*****Jazz's POV*****
Tuesday.
It is literally the longest day of my life.
I was late to school because Jess forgot to wake me up. I had to find clothes to wear and which resulted in me putting my pants on backward, while I was half asleep. I had to ride my skateboard because the bike ran out of fuel. I fell and scraped my knee on the sidewalk. Then, by the time I made it to school first period was over and I was late for second.
I decided to skip it.
I was at my locker getting all my things and putting my board away. I turned around to fast and bumped into the most popular girl in school, Sherry Valance.
"Watch it, grease!" She squeaked. She had stumbled back, but I had fallen onto the floor.
"S-Sorry," I stuttered. I picked up my book that fell on the floor and stood up.
"You messed up my skirt," she whined. She was a real prick. I rolled my eyes. "You did not just roll your eyes at me"
"I think I did," I say standing up. She pushed my backwards. "You did not just do that."
"I think I did," she says mocking me. "Now why don't you just back away."
I was already pissed. She did not want to push me. I held my ground. She pushed me, harder. And I fell to the floor. By now there was a crowd.
I stood up really fast and pushed her. She stumbled into her group of friends. She came back up and slapped me hard across the face. I didn't really feel it, but it hurt. I didn't think about the next thing I did.
I punched her across the face. She fell to the floor clutching her nose.
"Ms. Winston! My office! NOW!" I heard our principle, Mr. Morris yell. I winced at his booming voice and followed him to his office.
''''
In his office I sat down in one of the chairs while he gave me a lecture.
"Fighting is strictly prohibited on these premises," he rambled on and on. "I'm going to have to call your guardians."
"She started it," I protested.
"Did she punch you first," he asks picking up the phone. I shook my head 'no'. He looks through a file cabinet and finds one that I suppose is mine. He dialed a number. "Hello, Mr. Curtis?" Oh crap. He's calling Darry. "Yes, um, well it seems Ms. Winston got in a physical fight today with one of her classmates." I scoffed. I heard some yelling on the other line. "She is being suspended for four school days. We need her to be removed from the school ground."
"What! All I did was punch her in the face!" I yell jumping up from my place.
"You broke her nose," he said. "You're lucky her parents aren't pressing charges." I sunk back in my chair. I don't know I hit her that hard. he returned to the phone. "So can you please pick her up?" he said to Darry. "Thank you. Have a nice day."
"You just told him that he has to leave work to pick me up and to 'Have a nice day'" I said putting air quotes around 'Have a nice day'. I looked at him. I leaned back in my chair and crossed my arms over my chest. "So how is life Todd?" I asked him.
I had been in this same situation, minus the broken nose, a few times before. I liked to talk to the principle, he was a cool guy after you took away the authority.
"It would be better if you could stay out of trouble," he said.
"This is the first time all year I have been in your office," I said a bit defensively.
