Two Weeks Later
I moved back in the Curtis house last week. I have been getting morning sickness every morning. I only talk to Darry now.
I haven't been going to school and I gave up cheerleading. I just work full time at the Dingo now. Darry is mad at me for dropping out, but I wasn't going anywhere with it. Collage was already out of the question.
I haven't told anyone about it. I will tell them after the first sonogram.
And that is today. Today I go to the doctor for my first appointment. I'm taking Darry with me since he is the only one who knows.
'''
I wake up and go to the bathroom. Morning sickness is a bitch. Pony comes in and holds my hair back. he's been trying to make me feel better, if only he knew that it's not going to get better.
"What is wrong with you?" Pony asks. "You have been throwing up every morning for the past few weeks."
"It's just a stomach bug," I say standing back up, "I'll get over it."
I rinse out my mouth and go back to my room. I get dressed in some dark blue jeans and a giant Minney Mouse sweatshirt, it's been really cold.
I walk back downstairs and Darry is making breakfast. I grab a piece of bacon off the plate.
"You ready for today," he asks.
"Yeah," I say taking a seat at the table.
"When are you gonna tell them," he says turning around.
"When is Who gonna tell Who," Soda says coming into the kitchen.
"Nothing," me and Darry say at the same time.
"Okay..." Soda says eyeing both of us.
Pony comes down and we all eat breakfast with little conversation. After Pony leaves for school and Steve shows up to take Soda to work.
Me and Darry hop in the truck and we go to the Clinic. When we get there we sign in and sit in the uncomfortable chairs.
"Penny for your thoughts," I say to Darry.
"How the hell did we get here?" He says.
"I ask myself that everyday," I say to him.
We sit in silence until they call my name.
We walk to the back room, following the doctor we had last time, Dr. Rogers.
We got to a different room than last time. This one had a machine with a screen on it, which I guess is the sonogram.
"Please Jasmine sit," Dr. Rogers says. I sit down on the slightly reclined chair. "Are you the father?" he asks Darry.
"No!," I say immediately. "He is the father's older brother."
I look over to Darry who looks stunned. He is 21 years old and I'm 15. Strange things happen in Tulsa.
"Sorry," he apologizes. "If you could lay down we could get this started."
I lay down and he puts a blue-ish gel on my bare stomach. It was freezing. He used a little bar, that looked like a scanner at the super market, and spread the gel around.
He turned on the screen machine and a black and white blur was on the screen. I heard a soft thump thump thump.
"That is the sound of a heartbeat," Dr. Rogers says. I look of confusion crosses his face. He stands up and walks toward the door. "I'll be right back."
Darry looks at me confused. "What was that?" he asks.
"I don't know, but it scared me," I say to him.
The doctor comes back in about two minutes later. "Sorry I needed to get a second opinion on the heartbeat." He says sitting back down.
He wipes the stuff of my stomach and turns off the machine.
"What's wrong?" I say putting my shirt back down.
"Well it depends on how you see it," he says. I look at him telling him to go on. "You're having twins."
I look at him, my eyes wide and my mouth open like a fish. Twins! I could barely handle that I was having a child, now it was two.
I looked over to Darry, he had the some surprised and shocked face as me. Darry stood up and left. I thanked the doctor and he wrote down my next appointment on a piece of paper and gave it to me. November 22nd.
I walked out of the Clinic and Darry's truck was gone. Great, I thought. I have to walk home. I started walking home.
I stopped at the Dingo and talked to Jackie for awhile. I drank a glass of iced tea and ate a turkey sandwich while I was there. Jackie gave me my work schedule for the next month. I worked every week day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and had every weekend off.
I finished my food and left. I walked to the school, since it would be getting out soon and I needed to talk to Pony.
I got to the school and the bell rang five minutes after. I saw Pony across the quad talking with Two-Bit and Steve. I walked over to them and snuck up behind Pony.
I jumped up and put my arms around Pony and Two-Bit. I could tell I scared both of them, because they jumped up. I doubled over in laughter.
"You... should've seen... your faces," I said between laughs. I feel two arms wrap around me.
"What're you doing here," Pony laughs as he picks me up bridal style.
"Thought I'd come and pick you up," I say. He starts to walk with the guys. "Seems its you who picked me up," I laugh.
"When are you coming back to school?" he asks. "It's really boring without you."
"Maybe next year," I say, kissing him on the cheek. "I'm already to far behind."
We walked back home talking about when I would go back to school. We got back to the house and Darry was in the living room.
He looked up from his paper and looked at me. He gave me a look of anger and returned his glance back to his paper.
Pony sat down and pulled me into his lap. I put my head in the crook of his neck. I start thinking of telling Pony, and the gang. I don't know how any of them will react.
What if Pony doesn't want them? What if Dally hates me? Why is Darry staring at me? I start thinking about the worst scenarios. All the bad thought start making me worry about everything.
I start to cry into the crook of Pony's neck. He grips my waist and starts whispering to me. "Shhh... Whats wrong babe?" he whispered in my ear. I just shook my head.
"Never leave me," I say in his ear so only he can hear me.
"I won't baby. I would never leave you," he says. "Guys I'm going to take her upstairs." He lifts me up and I wrap my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck.
He takes me upstairs into my room and sets me down. I don't let him go. He stands up and sits down himself.
"What's wrong Jazzy?" Pony asks. I shake my head again. "You can tell me."
"No-" I sob out, "- you're going to hate me."
"I could never hate you," he says lifting my chin. "Just tell me."
"I-
