I limp up to the desk where the lady is sitting. My leg still has little pieces of glass in it. I use the board as support.

"Hi, are you Jasmine Winston?" She asks with a fake smile. You can always tell when its fake.

"Yeah- I mean yes," she doesn't seem like she likes grouchy teenagers.

"Follow me to the back room. Is he coming with you," she asked pointing to Darry who was standing behind me.

I looked up at him. I asked him without really asking him. He nodded.

"Yes. He is coming with me," I say.

She leads Darry and I to a room behind the white door separating the waiting room from the actual office. She tells us that the doctor will be in in "just a minute". Total bullshit. Doctor are never in, in just a minute.

"Are really gonna do this?" Darry asks from the chair next to me.

"In thee last few minutes my mind has not changed," I say, avoiding direct eye contact. "I told you I'm not going to ruin my life. And I stand by it."

"But is it really worth this. Getting rid of this baby," he says. "What about adoption. or a home?"

"No. I lived in one of those homes. I would never make my child go through that," I spit out.

I remember those weeks. When I was 10 Dallas was in jail and Darry wasn't my legal guardian, yet. I lived in a home in town. I was one of the youngest ones there. The people there were evil. And the kids were twice as bad.

I was beaten black and blue daily. One day I was almost adopted and I had to pretend to be a total bitch, so they wouldn't take me away. Then kids got mad at me for almost getting out. I broke my leg 'falling' down the stairs

"I know," Darry said, bringing me out of my thoughts. "But you are hurting yourself doing this."

"I don't care," I say rather loudly.

Just then the doctor walked in. He looked to be around his late to mid 30's.

"Well, what are you in for today?" he asks putting a chart down.

"Oh. I fell on my skate board and a shard of glass lodged in my leg," I say with a wincing smile. "And I need to talk about something baby related." I look over at Darry, he is glaring daggers at me.

"Okay well let me look at your leg," he sits on a stool and pulls it up to my leg. he grabs a pair of tweezers and pulling out a piece of glass. I wince and make a shrieking noise. "Sorry."

He continued to pull little pieces of glass for a little over 10 minutes. He finally pulled out the last piece and set it on the tray that all the other pieces were on. He grabs some bandage. He wraps it around my leg.

"Okay, that's it," he says. "You said something about a baby?"

"Darry can you step outside," I asked him. He quietly walked out of the room.

"You were saying," the doctor says.

"What is your opinion on abortion?" I asked biting my lips nervously.

"Well I am not aloud to talk about that," the doctor says standing up.

"Why?" I ask confused.

"We live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. it's illegal," he says.

How did I not know this? Oh, yeah. I've too busy staying away from school and avoiding humanity!

"Well, how far along are you?" he asks
