✾Ruby's pov

Everyone at school was hyped about prom tonight. The girls squealing over their dresses. The guys then asking those overly excited girls out. It was such a mess. I hated the idea of prom, just hated it. I think I was the only one in class without a date.

Thank God.

It was second period and Mr. Cadbury was asking for updates about our plant project. Cole had decided to name our plant "Oasis" after a band we both liked. I was doodling a cupcake on my desk when a little note was slid across the table to me from Cole who was sitting beside me. I eyed the note and then
eyed him.

"Prom?"
1. Yes.
2. Sure.
3. Why not.

I couldn't help but smile after reading the options. I was thinking of not going all together and staying in.

I think about it for a second, maybe it'll be fun. I circle out the "sure" option and slide it back to him. His eyes lit up when he saw my response and a smile appeared on his face.

I was putting my books away in my locker and Cole crept up behind me.

"What color is your dress?"

"Grey most probably."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"Well, I want to match my tie with your dress.", He said while looking down and playing with his fingers.

Cute.

"It's grey.", I smiled.

"Okay, great then. I'll pick you up at around 9."

"I'll be waiting.", I said and turned towards my locker again.

I was about to close it shut when out of nowhere, Cole grips my shoulder and turns me around, pulling me into a hug. He held me tight against him, and the smell of his body spray was so good like always. He doesn't loosen his grip and we stay like this for a while.

"Can't forget my daily dose of Ruby.", He whispers.

Not long after, he breaks the hug and smiles.

"Bye, Ruby."

"Bye, Cole."

And at that he lets go of me and walks away.

I texted Sasha to come over and help me get ready and after half an hour she was here with so much stuff.
Makeup kits, false lashes, curling rod, straighter, hair spray, an entire set of nail polishes.

"Sasha, what the fuck?", I laughed.

"You're my angle cupcake and I will turn you into a princess."

"I want a very subtle look though."

"Ugh fine, but let me do all the work. you just sit there and look pretty."

I was sitting in my bathrobe, my hair still wet from the shower. She blow dried my hair first. Even though my hair is naturally straight, she still straightened them to give them that "shine" as she said. Then she rubbed foundation all over my face with this spongy pink damp thingy. After about two hours of caking up my face, she was done and I walked over to the mirror in my bathrobe to see what she had done to me. I gasped when I looked at myself, the makeup was seamless. Light and very, very subtle. I had soft smokey eyes, red peach blush and light pink glossed lips. It was perfect. I put on my dress. It was really tight. My body suffocated underneath it but it is prom after all. The dress had beautiful grey sequins all over it. I wore my grey stiletto heels with it and my look was complete. Sasha barged into the room to look at my dress and hugged me tight.
