✾Ruby's pov
I shuffle in the sheets, moving my hair out of my face.Get up.
"Fuck you, conscience.", I mumbled under my breath.
I roll out of bed and check the time on my phone. It was almost eleven. I tied up my hair and walked into the kitchen. I got a glass from the cabinet and filled it up with water from the kitchen sink. And that's when I had an idea. I quickly took two eggs out of the fridge and cracked them in a bowl, adding some herbs, spices and cheese. Then I poured all of that into a frying pan and grabbed a few oranges from the fruit basket, slicing them into halves and squeezing them into a jug. I quickly turned to the stove at the sound of the eggs sizzling, flipping them to the other side. I buttered up two bread slices and sandwiched the omelette in between them, cutting it in half. I then poured the juice in a tiny jug and placed everything into a wooden basket. I walked upstairs to my room to get dressed and decided on wearing a light, baby blue sundress that reached above my knee with some converse. I didn't bother with heavy make up so, I just went with some peach blush, mascara and subtle pink stained lips.

Cole would probably still be asleep. This was my first time being nervous about making a cheese omelette sandwich and orange juice. I was just finishing up in the kitchen when my mum walked in.
"You look nice. Going anywhere today?", She asked.
"Yeah, I'm taking breakfast over to Cole's."
She sighed and placed her hands on both my shoulders.
"Baby, listen. He's a lovely guy but please, just don't get hurt."
I hugged her and said,
"You don't have to worry about anything, mum. I'll be careful. Promise."
She smiled and kissed my cheek.
"Well, in that case, you better get going before that sandwich gets cold."
-
I nervously rang the doorbell and waited for someone to open the door. The door flung open, revealing a very happy Dylan.
"Ruby!", He said, hugging me.
I smiled as he gestured me to walk in.
"Cole's still asleep."
"Yeah, I know all about him staying in bed for long hours."
"Hey, what you got there?", He asked, pointing to the basket.
"Oh, I made him breakfast. I was planning on surprising him."
He smirked and then said,
"Well, you know where his room is."
-
I opened Cole's bedroom door and found him sleeping in his bed. I entered the room and closed the door behind me. I quietly placed the basket on the bedside table and walked over to him. His hair was all messy and he had one of his hand under the pillow his head was placed on. He once told me how he liked doing that in his sleep because it's always soft and cold underneath. This is what I loved about him, the tiny details that made him into the person he is. The little things do count. I sat down beside him and kissed his cheek.
"Cole.", I whispered.
He lifted his head a little, his eyes squinted as he was trying to process everything.
"Hi, Ruby.", He mumbled, rested his head on pillow again and closed his eyes.
I couldn't help but giggle. He was still too sleepy to notice me. But after a few seconds, he shot up his head with his eyes wide open.
"Ruby?"
"Surprise."
He suddenly sat up and moved his hands to my face.
"Are you really here or am I dreaming?"
I laughed and grabbed his hands so he would stop continuously touching my face out of disbelief.
"I'm here."
He adjusted the pillow behind his back and sat straight up. The blanket fell down his body. He wasn't wearing a shit which was very very noticeable, by the way. I grabbed the breakfast I made for him and placed it on his lap.
"What's this?"
"Breakfast."
"How did I get this lucky.", He said, looking at me from the basket. He opened the plastic box and bit into one half of the sandwich.
"This is the best omelette sandwich I've ever had in my entire life.", He said, taking another bite.
He was most probably just saying that. I watched him as he devoured the meal and washed everything down with the orange juice. He was finally done eating. He placed the now empty basket on the other side of the bed and looked at me.
"Why are you so far away from me?"
I then realized that there was a lot of space between us, so I scooted a little closer to him. Cole sighed, rolling his eyes and pulled me closer to him by grabbing my waist. I was pressed up and against him when he whispered,
"So, how's my babygirl doing today?"
I giggled and said,
"I'm okay."
Butterflies filled my stomach once again. Everything he says seems to have a certain effect on me. I felt everything deep within. Every sentence, every word. I've never been in a situation like this before. This was all so new to me. But, whatever this is, I don't want it to stop. He squeezed me even tighter as if we weren't close enough already.
"Do you want to do something today?", He asked.
"Sure.", I said, almost whispered.
"Why are you whispering?", He whispered back.
"I don't know.", I said, laughingly.
"Okay."
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"Stop it. This isn't fault in our stars.", I said, causing a goofy smile to appear on his lips.
He moved his hand a little lower than my waist. I felt my body tense up, he probably felt it too, because he suddenly had his eyes wide open. I found myself getting lost in them for a little while when he snapped me out of it.
"Are you okay?", He asked.
"Umm, yeah."
"Then why did I feel you get all uncomfortable all of a sudden?"
I felt myself blushing again when I said,
"I don't actually lay around in bed with guys, you know."
He hugged me and said,
"I'm happy to be your first cuddle buddy."
He was cute, a little too cute. We both lay back, closed our eyes and just took in this beautiful, intoxicating moment. I liked this. Just this. Us. Together. I wished this moment could last forever. But sadly it can't because not long after, he had loosed his grip around me and sat up straight. I wish that lasted a little longer.
