✾Ruby's pov
"She'll even do it for a candy bar."Bradley laughed while all the other boys hollered. I was sitting in the first row and they were sitting right behind me. They knew I could hear them, that's why they were purposely saying all these horrible, vulgar things about me.
"You do know her mum's does it better. Right?"
That was it, they could talk shit about me, but not my mother, That's where I draw the fucking line. I stood up and walked up to Bradley and slapped him right across his face.
"You bastard.", I said in a stern voice.
All of the boys were shocked, they didn't expect me to snap and do what I had just did. The entire classroom was silent. I grabbed my bag and ran out of there, fast walking my way down the school hallway with tears in my eyes.
How could he say something like that?
I was in such a trance that I didn't realize I had just bumped into someone's shoulder.
"Sorry.", I say without looking at the person and keep walking.
Suddenly I feel someone grab my wrist. I look up only to see Cole. I snatch it away and continue walking. He follows me like a lost puppy. I walked out into the school's football ground with Cole still following me and calling out my name.
"Ruby, come on.", He panted.
"Slow down!", He shouted.
I finally stop and sit down on the grass. No one else was there, most probably because classes were still going on. He ran up to me and sat down beside me. After two minutes of him catching his breath he said,
"I know a pair of sad eyes when I see one."
I remained silent.
"I have this butterscotch candy in my pocket, and if someone tells me what's bothering them, I might even give it to them."
I put out my hand without looking at him and he puts the crumbled butterscotch candy coin in my hand. I start tearing off it's wrapper and put it in my mouth. Normally I'd just keep it there and shift the candy around but I was so pissed, I crunched it up between my jaws.
"Easy there, tiger.", Cole said.
I looked at him with watery eyes and for a moment I lost it, I broke down in front of him. My face buried into his chest, He was practically holding me up. My body trembled as I continued to cry. He said nothing. He didn't do anything besides placing his chin on the top of my head and rubbing my back.
✾Cole's pov
It almost broke me seeing her cry. I just sat there, holding her. I didn't know what to say. As soon as she lifted her face from my chest, it clicked.
Ruby was the girl in the park that night.
"Ruby.", I whispered.
She looked at me while wiping her tears.
"A few days ago, were you at the park at about 2 am or something?"
"Yeah, I think so. Why?", She sniffed.
I took out my phone, and showed her the picture I took of her that night.
Her eyes widened when she saw the photo."Were you stalking me?", She laughed nervously.
"No no, I was just out there taking some pictures and then I saw you, so I took one of you too."
"But why?", she said while zooming into the picture.
"I thought you looked beautiful."
As soon as those words left my mouth, she burst into laughter. I looked at her confused.
"Fine.", I pretended to be hurt.
She immediately stopped laughing.
"Oh come on, I'm sorry.", She looked at me with puppy dog eyes.
"Ruby, who said something to you?"
"No one.", She hesitated.
"Tell me and I'll take care of it. They'll never bother you again. I promise."
"I don't want you to take care of anything, I'm strong, I can do it myself.", She said while tying up her hair.
I sighed and said,
"Well, at least let me get you something to eat."
"That's sounds nice.", She smiled with her nose still red and her eyes still puffy.
I stood up and pulled out my hand to her, she grabbed it and I helped her up.
"I better get to class. I'll see you in the cafeteria after fourth period. Okay?"
She nodded and I started walking to class after giving her one last glance.

✾Ruby's pov
I walked into the cafeteria and smiled when I saw a white donut bag, a chocolate milk and a very smiley Cole sitting on the round table in the right corner next to the window. He waved at me and I walked over to him and sat down next to him."Thanks, Cole."
"Anytime. How are you holding up, by the way?"
"I'm okay."
"Here, I got you a glazed donut.", He said as he handed me the bag.
I took out the donut and broke it apart into two pieces. I handed one out to him.
"I'm not going to eat this if we don't share."
He laughingly said,
"I'll only share this with you if you eat the bigger half."
I grinned and gave him his piece. We both sat there sharing a double sugar glazed donut. And in that moment, things weren't that bad.
