An Earthly Amusement

A silver boy and a golden girl

Fell in love as they twirled

Through shaded sky and crowded worlds,

They fell for light the other curled.

But a jealous earth intervened

"He stole my love", nature screamed

And so he swore to keep them apart

In day and night, he caged their heart.

Till dawn she runs to reach his rise

At dusk he follows her fading light

But stuck in a chase neither completes

Amused earth, he sits, so pleased.
