What does drowning feel like?

Surrounded by fishes swimming around and the blue sea, I wondered how did I get here. The first instinct was to start to swim upwards, but it was like I was stuck in one place. Still trying hard, my fear of running out of the air was getting bigger and I was desperate to breathe oxygen. My chemical sensors in the brain triggered and an involuntary breath was taken.

My break point.

Still conscious, I was trying to go to the surface but I was afraid to run out of air and breathing water. Voluntary or not, spasmodic breaths dragged water into my mouth and windpipe. I could feel the water already trying to fill my lungs.

The clock was running out; half-conscious and enfeebled with oxygen depletion, my body slowed down and I was getting to a point of giving up.

I began closing my eyes, but in this chaos, I heard someone whispering, "Open your eyes, Amelia. Now, my dear."

With little strength, I did as I was told and a bright light shined in my eyes.

*******************

I need to escape.

The action followed as I opened my eyes wider and the light glowed right in my eyes. Closing my eyes right back, I realised that it was a dream. Dreams always have been cryptic and in my case, always meant something.

Trapped by reality, freed by imagination.

A small headache started to rise as I started moving my body but I felt my legs and hands bound by something tight. I tried to pull from it with my closed eyes but it was in vain.

I tried again, but I froze when I heard a hard voice, "Stop moving, you will hurt yourself."

Frantically, I looked at the voice's direction and I could see a lean man, even in my hazy vision. Blinking my orbs several times, I could finally see the man leaning over the large window and peeking through the curtains.

My eyes travelled to the dark room, where I was placed in a king-sized bed. However, the light from the old candle lantern glowed only where I was. Then, my eyes found the closed door, the door to freedom.

Before I tried to move again, he spoke, "You can't run."

Looking at him once more, I realised that his frame was hidden and I was not able to look at his face yet, and still leaning over the window.

My next move was to contact my wolf but she was also disconnected. As if sensing what I was doing, he said with a stern voice, "You won't be able to access your wolf right now."

Instead of answering him, I stayed unmoving and waited till he did something else. I knew that I need to stay calm and think rationally. But I could hear my heart beating frantically and I need to fix it.

As my heart started to beat in a normal beat, the man turned around facing me. Unfortunately, I couldn't see him because it was dark where he stood, however, I could see his silhouette.

He continued with the same stern tone, "You can't access your wolf or your powers, like healing or hearing, because of the sedative I gave you. It won't harm your health, and don't worry you won't lose your wolf."

I stopped panicking over Roxanne as I felt her somewhere in the corner of my head. I tried to call her, but I could feel that she was trapped. Whatever sedative used was strong enough to shut down all my powers and he spoke the truth.

I began lifting my body up and after great difficulty, I sat down against the headboard. He hadn't moved from his spot as my eyes shifted to where the man stood, in the shadows.
