Four hours and 13 minutes...

Four hours and 13 minutes since he kissed me...

Four hours and 13 minutes since he kissed me and ran away...

Glancing at the clock beside me, I saw that it was midnight. Constantly touching my lips and thinking of my confusing feelings, but that's the only thing on my mind...

My so-called family...

There was something that didn't fit especially the ongoing threats that the King and the Queen passed to their subjects. Everyone's tongues held one word, punishment. As soon as I asked someone about it, they would run away leaving me more curious.

A mystery... and the most certain thing that I should know... Maybe I should take a risk, maybe I should find out by myself...

Roxanne spoke after a long time, "Maybe we should."

With a new found confidence, I stood up and made my way outside to face the truth. I was greeted by dark corridors and this uneasy feeling settled in.

I started walking through the halls with curious eyes and looking at several pictures of the land and it looked lively for an unknown reason. It held this captivity in them, I couldn't help to touch them and feel the ink.

As I touched the first picture with my fingertips, I stopped in my tracks when I heard two soft whispers, a man and a woman. I took quiet steps and hid behind a corridor. I saw a man in warrior suit and a woman that I never saw wearing a maid uniform.

Maybe eavesdropping may help to find the mystery...

I couldn't hear anything, so I concentrated on them particularly and enhanced my werewolf hearing for a better effect.

The warrior started with a tired voice, "I will be more careful. You need to relax. You can't be stressed, you know that..."

The woman whimpered softly, "I am trying, Roger, but it is hard to do when you are always in danger."

The warrior tried to reassure her, "I know, Tracy. You are my rock, you need to believe me. I am alright."

The maid wiped her tears and continued, "Roger, when will we have peace? When are we going to be free?"

Free from what?

I couldn't help to wonder if I was overstepping on this conversation, and I was about to go to the other direction when the warrior said something that stopped me from going, "You need to be careful around the Queen, she is not to trust for."

Roxanne shouted, "Wait, Amelia. Keep hearing. They are talking about our parents. We know that are few things that don't add up. I don't believe that Caleb did what they say."

I told her, "It is hard for me to believe it too, but I don't know. They are our parents. It is also true that Caleb always avoided the topic and he never told us. What if---"

Roxanne interrupted my rambling, "What if what? I can't believe that... Dark Goddess showed us a path to them. They mean something to us."

I whispered, inside of my head, "But what if Caleb and the vampires did what the Queen says? What if we were wrong about them and it was an elaborate plan to get to the werewolves?"

Roxanne said with a sad tone, before she disconnected, "I can't believe that..."

The maid known as Tracy shouted to the warrior, which made me look at the couple again, "Roger, please. King Argent isn't merciful. If we run away, then where will we go? I am pregnant, Roger."
