Chapter 18

King Argent repeated, "My Queen?"

Roxanne said stunned, inside of my mind, "We found them. I thought..."

I finished my wolf's phrase, inside of my mind, "...that they were a myth."

Surprised and frozen as it sunk.

Queen's cries slowed down as she heard the King call her again. Her sad expression changed to a bright smile as she looked at the King with newfound excitement.

She announced, "My King, it's her. We found her."

King Argent's eyebrows knitted together as he asked, "I am not sure if I understand, my Queen."

The Queen ran till she reached in front of me and hugged me tightly. When she broke, her watery eyes connected to mine.

She whispered as she touched my cheek, almost like remembering the touch, "Amelia, my daughter. My beautiful daughter."

I asked, "How do you know my name?"

She replied me with a question, "How can I not?"

I had waited for this moment for years, for decades. I imagined that I would react somehow, but the only thing I feel is chilled.

Roxanne whispered, "We found the people who left us behind."

King Argent shouted, and the bubble that we had created broke, "Are you sure, my Queen?"

Queen looked behind, bewildered, as she said, "Of course I am, my King. My daughter. Your blood."

King looked at me and quickly added, "I thought that this moment would never happen."

The words came out without a second thought and the moment that left, I thought how absurd it sounded, but somehow I needed to know.

I voiced, "How can you be so sure?"

The Queen faced me with a puzzled look, while the King came and stood next to his wife.

Queen Argent said with a sweet voice, "My dear, it's a long story."

Roxanne was starting to get agitated and demanded, "Make them talk."

I should have been more open, but something kept a step behind. I took her hands away from my cheeks and took two steps behind. The natural response would be sadness, however, their aura colours were dark magenta, which I never came across.

I said calmly, shocked by my reaction, "I was abandoned, for all I know, my parents could be dead and you could be lying."

King Argent stated, "We are your parents and we are not lying."

I looked away, while Queen Argent continued, "You know that is not the truth. Your wolf would have recognised us, didn't she? I know you are angry and you want to lash out, we have reasons to give you away."

They weren't wrong... I was angry and I wanted to deny the fact that they were my parents because it would be easier. I was afraid to be lost again.

I ignore her, and asked her the real question, "What reasons?"

Both of them sighed, but the King encouraged his wife to tell the part of the story that I didn't know.

Queen Argent with a tone that I didn't recognise, "We were happy that you were born, however, the kingdom was going through some problems. At that time, the vampires and werewolves shared a territory. We had an issue with them and they weren't happy. It was the dark ages back then, almost half of werewolves were killed by the vampires."
