Motionless, I stood in between the dark trees, where a very dim moonlight shore from the sky.

"Amelia," the whisper said.

A sudden feeling of a presence was felt as it was coming closer towards me. However, my eyes were locked on my hands that were full of blood and a lingering coppery smell.

"Amelia," the whisper repeated.

Again, that voice called for me, wondering who kept constantly interrupting my thoughts. Even if these whispers echoed throughout the forest, I wondered why I felt calm...

"Amelia," the whisper demanded.

Finally, looking into my right, I finally caught something moving fast in between the inky trees. I squinted my eyes to see more clearly but I was left to see a shadow.

I finally called out without any fear, "Come out."

Surely, that creature came out of the dense trees and faced me with such intensity. The fur of the wolf in front of me looked perfectly smooth and it was shining in all its glory. My eyes shifted to its orbs that looked at me sharply.

Silver eyes...

There was no mistake... I asked with a realisation, a soft smile playing on my face, "Roxanne, is it you?"

The wolf bowed once and a voice echoed inside of my head, "Yes."

It was a warm feeling throughout my bloodstream and looking at her made me realise how fortunate I was to have a wolf like her. An unexpected perception invaded my mind as it realised that without her, I would have been dead.

Roxanne said softly, "Everything happens for a reason, Amelia."

I asked, surprised, "Were you able to hear my thoughts?"

She said with certainty, "I am you and you are me."

Ignoring my reaction, Roxanne began walking towards me and footprints creating a trail behind her. As she reached in front of me, she sat on the ground and looked at me with her silver eyes. I couldn't help but to crouch down and pet her lightly.

My velvety hands touched her smooth midnight black fur, instantly she began to purr out of happiness. I stopped petting Roxanne, abruptly, as I saw a faint trail of blood on her now unclean fur.

The blood that stained my hands...

The words were spoken before I registered, "I didn't kn--"

Roxanne's head shifted directly in front of me and interrupted me, "Amelia, this is my true form."

I uttered, confused, "I don't understand."

Roxanne started nuzzling on my neck, while she whispered inside of my head, "The liquid in your hands are from all the blood that we shed and my fur coats their blood as your hands. A sign of our victory..."

I was baffled by her words and didn't know what to say.

However, my wolf reminded me, "... also, a sign of our survival. We killed to survive."

Relunctly, my hands found their way back into her fur, afraid to smudge her soft fur. The connection between us grew throughout the years, but today we bonded in another level. I hugged her.

I whispered to her, "I know, Roxanne. We did what we needed to do."

She briefly met my eyes before she laid on the ground. I followed her suit and laid next to her. My eyes travelled to the sky that was full of stars and a tranquil surrounding creating a serene atmosphere.
