"M-mother, look!" I gasped, pointing at a white butterfly that flew past me, my brother and our mother. My twin brother, Subaru, chuckled at my amazement and ruffled my brunette hair, making me smile happily.
"Ah yes" my mothers soft voice spoke as she smiled at my words and raised her hand outside of the bars caging her in from the outside world.
"How good it would feel to just be... free" she mumbled sadly, looking back at Subaru and I before giving us a sad smile.
"One day, Eve, I'll be able to fly just like that butterfly" she pointed outside and closed her eyes. I looked at my brother and gave him a concerned look.
"Me too, Mother" I said to her. Mother seemed to be deep in her thoughts, keeping quiet for almost a whole minute.

I frowned when I heard the gate downstairs unlock, revealing our family maid. She hung her head low and bowed for my Mother. I could sense her uneasiness from my Mother's threatening glare, it was enough to send you shivers if you dared to look at it.
"It's time for the children to return to their chambers" the maid said with sadness in her voice. My mother grabbed a hold of the bars and let her head hit the ledge.
"Very well then..." she whispered, but while we were taken away I ran up to her and hugged her bony waist.
"I'll see you again soon, mother, I promise!" I said, making a smile appear on her beautiful face.
"Indeed you shall" she kissed my head and held me close to her body. Subaru came along and joined us, holding us both and feeling as sad as I was.
"I love you, my darlings" she told us both, kneeling all of our heads against each other's . I tried my hardest not to cry, but I did let a few drops out.
"I love you too, Mommy" I kissed her cheek and hugged her one more time before walking over to my maid and taking her smooth hand. I watched as Subaru had to rip himself off of mothers soft hold, kissing her goodbye and also walking towards me and our maid.
"Bye Mommy!" I waved with my free hand and took Subarus afterwards.
"Goodbye my darlings" she waved, a depressing smile smothered her face as she watched us go from afar.

"Let's go, quickly!" our maid told us before locking the door behind us and walking us out of mothers tower. On our way out, I held Subaru's hand tightly, afraid of leaving mother. And I could tell he felt exactly the same.
The air seemed cold and my red eyes scanned for any of our other siblings but no one was there.
"It's studying time for Ayato and Shu, the rest of your brothers are inside having supper" the maid explained to Subaru and I. We both nodded our heads to show we heard her, making the maid sigh and lead us straight inside. As I looked behind me, I could see mother waving from the tower with the same sad expression on her face. I raised my hand and waved back at her, earning an instant smile.

"Eve, are you okay?" My twin had asked.
To my surprise, I realised that I had stopped to wave at my mother for quite some time now.
"Oh yeah, sorry" I sighed, dropping my hand to the side and looking at the ground in sadness.
"It's fine, just- hurry up, okay?" The albino spoke, taking my hand once more and tracing the palm with his thumb.
"Come now, you two, it's getting dark" Our maid mumbled, taking my hand and dragging us both inside.

(moments later)

"Subaru, I'm hungry" I whined, sitting on my brother and I's bed in boredom.
"Well, get something to eat! Im sure laito or kanato will be there" my brother rejected me, sending an upset and hurt feeling inside my body.
"Oh okay..." I slipped off the bed, walked over the squeaky floorboards and opened the door. I looked back at Subaru and sighed, watching him examine his knife discreetly and mumble to himself in irritation. As I walked out, I made sure to close the door behind me silently so that I wouldn't bother anyone.

The halls were up in lights and the stairs were filled with a velvet red carpet that lead into the main entrance, where familiar faces stood their ground.

"Ah, if it isn't my favourite little girl~" auntie Cordelia smiled eerily as I walked down the stairs. I tried my hardest to smile back at her and put on a believable act. "Hello auntie Cordelia, wonderful evening, isn't it?" I asked the purple haired woman who nodded in reply.
"It certainly is. But my dear, haven't you fed yet?" The woman took my hand and pushed two of her fingers against my wrist.
"You need to feed, my darling, or you know what will happen" she waved a slender finger at my face. I nodded quickly and looked at the ground, afraid of facing her glare.
"Let's get you some food" she smirked, taking me by the hand and leading me to the family dining room.

I can't remember the last time since I was in the dining room because I usually spend all of my time in mother's tower. It's sad knowing that I never spend time with my brothers anymore, and that I purposely keep myself hidden from everyone, except form Subaru.

As me and Cordelia walked into the dining room, I could also see a few familiar faces around the table, stuffing their faces relentlessly.
"Boys! Please! Where are your manners?!" My auntie roared at her two sons, Laito and Kanato. Their heads shook up and down faster than you could say the word stop, making me feel a bit bad for them. "Sorry mother" My red haired brother bowed his head to his mother before sighing under his breath.
"Well, if you don't mind, Eve will be joining you this evening, so don't even think about being immature" Cordelia pointed the finger at her sons before letting my hand go so I could sit down.

After she left the room, I quickly jumped off the seat and ran over to my brothers, grabbing their waists and hugging them tightly. Kanato set his beloved teddy on the table and lifted me up on the chair next to him.
"Where have you been? We were so worried about you!" Laito asked suddenly, concern filling his lovely voice. I sighed and looked at my small hands, fiddling with them shakily.
"I just don't want to leave my mother" I rubbed my nose after sniffing lightly.
"Well, just know that we'll always be here for you, so you can tell us anything" both of them smiled and took one of my hands tightly.
"Thank you, but you know I can't be the one to get her out of there. I just wish I would escape all of this" I admitted, feeling ashamed that I had to tell them that, but they're the closest family I have.
"We understand that, but you can't get out of here, father has a guard at every meter of the mansion" Kanato frowned at the mentioning of the word father.
"Hmm" I responded plainly.
It's a pain that Kanatos words are very true. I can't even step one foot out of this place without anyone knowing.

"Hey guys" all of us whipped our heads around to see our oldest brother, Shu. I gasped sharply and ran up to him with open arms.
"Shu! You're here!" I exclaimed, wrapping my arms around his waist and burying my face in his chest. Shu's hands enclosed around my small torso and held me close.
"Sorry if I barged in unannounced, my mother finally let me get some food" he sighed in relief while stroking my brunette hair. A smile covered my features as I pulled away and looked at him, happiness filling my red eyes.
"I'm so glad" I giggled.
"Hey Shu! There's a plate of rare steak over here! Want some?" Laito asked his brother with a smirk. Shu's ocean blue eyes snapped open and he immediately ran over to the dish to steal about three streaks.
"Hey! Not fair, I want one!" I whined, running up as well and desperately trying taking one from him.
"Haha! you'll have to catch me first, baby sis!" He smirked, raising it above his head and watching me physically struggled for the delicious piece of meat in his hand. Laito giggled and watched as we tackled for the piece of meat, but in he end I had stepped on shu's foot and he dropped it. I grabbed the piece of steak in a flash and started to chew on it.
"Boo-yah!" I mumbled into my food. Shu crossed his arms and chewed the other part of the meat was now in his mouth.
"Just dont tell mother that I was this bad at table manners" he looked at me and my brothers with pleading eyes. We all looked at each other seperately before nodding at out older brother and grinning.
"Oh dont worry, we won't" I spoke, tapping my fingers together and grinning evily.
"Hey!" Shu grabbed my head and ruffed my hair, making me burst out in laughter. Laito and Kanato slapped their knees and joined me in laughing, running up to shu and buzzing his sides, making him scream and laugh loudly.
"You guys!" he laughed through breaths. I looked at my older brothers all together and realised that they could get along with or without my help. Laito and Kanato were fully going at shus sides, starting to lightly tickle them.
"Haha!" i failed at containing my laughter, but at the same time regretted it when they all looked at me and grinned widely.

"Come here, eve!"

"No- Ah!! Let me go! Haha!"
