I could hear mumbling, it was faint but a bit loud. My eyes fluttered open softly and I yawned. My sight was blurry so I had to rub my eyes to focus on what was around me.
"Guys! She's awake!" I suddenly shot up to see a small child around my age, there was a little girl with dark skin, her hair was black and very curly. She wore ripped and dirty clothing that looked like it hadn't been washed in days.
"Hello there" she smiled sweetly, raising up her hand to shake. I hesitated, looking around the dirty and dim room. I raised up my shaky hand and held hers, shaking it up and down to greet her.
"h-hi" I mumbled. The girl was in thought, looking at my vulnerable form and sighing. "I'm sorry about those guys, they tend to find us and keep us" she explained in a sad tone. My eyes widened and gasped, sitting up straight before trying to stand up. I groaned, feeling a sharp pain in my neck tearing down to my back. My bottom crashed back to the ground, increasing the pain in my back. The girl gasped, crawling up to me before placing a finger on her lips. "I'm sorry miss, but you need to be quiet, the men could hear you" she whispered, making a frown appear on my face.
"what do they even want?" I said angrily, taking the blanket off me so I could get some fresh air on my bottom half.
I cleared my throat and looked up at the broken window, seeing the moonlight didn't help my thirst.

Of course, I was a vampire, which meant I was my thirst was at its highest on a full moon. I was struggling, but I didn't want to hurt this girl with me.
My hands clenched as I harshly bit my bottom lip, which ended up making blood drop from my mouth. I must've bit it too hard.

"You know, blood is a specialty when it comes to medicine. I heard it can heal a would in just 5 seconds if you mix it with sapling leaves and pine needles" the young girl said, looking at me with her deep chocolate eyes as her hand grabbed mine. I raised a brow.

"I only use blood to drink..." my words became a whisper when I realised she was a human. Her eyes widened as her hands were cupped on her lap. Her eyebrows raised in an unusual manner, examining me up and down before grinning.
"You're a vampire? That's surprising" she giggled to herself, tugging a strand of her curly hair behind her ear whereas her other hand drew a symbol into the dusty ground. Her eyes gleamed in the dying moon that was slowly drawing toward dawn.

"Do you mind if I have a drop of your blood?" The girl asked so suddenly, making me look at her as if she had two heads. What the heck? Is she a vampire too? No, I'd've sensed it by now if she was...

I was hesitant with my answer, unsure of what to do while I stared at the odd girl as she finished the detailed symbol. I sighed, digging my fangs into my fingertip and drawing more than a drop of blood. The young girl had softly grasped my wrist, dragging it above the symbol and letting my blood splatter with every drop that left my fingertip.
It didn't hurt one bit, it was as though whenever I felt pain, it was either a prick or even nothing. I guess that was an upside of being immortal.

When my blood finally stopped dropping, the girl let go of my wrist and spread the blood over the symbol messily. I was scared and shocked at the same time at this girls behaviour, it was like she was trying to summon a demon from hell or maybe connect to spirits.
Her eyes opened, revealing glowing purple irises that directed towards the messy pattern on the dirty and dusty ground. Then all of a sudden, the entire symbol began to glow the same colour as her eyes, but it was brighter and more blinding. The words she whispered were Latin, she was casting a spell! She's a witch!
I was more surprised than shocked when I realised she was a witch and not some demon cult member trying to kill me.

Her eyes stopped glowing, but the spell didn't. Instead, it formed into some glass bottle with red liquid inside it. The firm glass held something that smelled awfully tempting, but by the time she lifted it from the ground, she had every inch of my attention.

"This may seem pointless but it's a healing potion, considering you have some cuts and bruised, you might need this" she raised the small bottle in the air in front of me. I gently took it from the girls hands, opening the small cork top that was blocking the liquid from poring out. The first thing I smelled was my blood, making my hunger rise for not only human blood but also immortal blood. I immediately chugged the bottle of healing blood, making me groan in satisfaction and slump my shoulders.
The girl smiled widely, watching in amusement as I felt relieved when all my cuts and bruises soon began to disappear. I looked at my hands, Palm and then the back, and then back up at the young girl.

" h-how did you-" "magic" she interrupted my question, wriggling her fingers around immaturely before giggling in a high pitch.
Well I never thought I'd ever meet a witch this good with magic.
