•Chapter 8•

"We're going shopping!" Eva screamed, next to my ear. The only time I went to the mall was to eat(at the foodcourt) or to buy sweatpants, hats and snacks.

The guys all groaned in unison.

"I'll take the Lambo, Malcolm, you can take the Ferrari," Ace said, tossing the keys to the Ferrari over to Malcolm.

I was amazed. Simply just amazed. How could one just trust a new friend with a Ferrari? Nonetheless, we all headed to the carpark, not forgetting to take our money with us.

When we got sight of the two, I yelled, "Shotgun!"

"Which one?" Ace enquired.

"The Lambo. And it's not because I prefer you driving."

I was as excited as a kid on Christmas. As we piled into separate cars, Ace rolled down the window and asked Malcolm, "Wanna race?"

Malcolm, out of nowhere, put on some ray-ban shades and answered, "You know it."

I internally sigh. If this is the end, I just wanna thank god for blessing my soul with food.

"Buckle up!" Ace called out.

"Three, two, one, go!" Emilia boomed from the back seat of the Ferrari.

The revving of engines got louder as we sped off. We were neck to neck but when the street we entered became narrower, Malcolm overtook us.

"Damn," Ace muttered, biting his lips. My heart kind of melted at the sight of that. Stop it. Why am I thinking about this? I don't want it to end up like the Aiden situation again.

Screeech.

The car came to a sudden halt. I looked up. (After almost dropping my phone, whoops)

Red light. The air was tense, nobody moved a muscle, except Ace who drummed his fingers on the steering wheel.

Green light. We were off, yet again. I watched intently as we overtook Malcolm on the highway.

"Look out!" I shrieked, noticing that we were getting close to another person's car.

"Relax, I'm driving," Ace said, placing a hand on my lap.

"That's the problem!"

One side of me was going,"Oh god. We're gonna die." while another was telling me to have some faith in the guy.

I shook off his hand because it was warming me up and making me feel all fuzzy and weird on the inside.

"I see the mall!" Cody exclaimed.

"We all do," Emilia deadpanned.

"Eyes on the prize!" Malcolm hollered.

"Cause I'm reaching it first!" he added. That was childish, I thought.

Instantly, the Ferrari zoomed past.

Ace sucked in a fair bit of air. Luckily we won't really run out of the stuff.

He stepped hard on the acceleration pedal. We tailed the Ferrari and at the last moment, we managed to cut in front of it.

"Woah."

Our chauffeurs opened their respective doors and got out, doing some kind of handshake.

"Well...uh driven." I see what he did there. Instead of well played, he said well driven. Wow. Thinking about it now, it seems pretty lame. The rest of us got off from the cars.
