Previously on chapter 24
Carter and Maddie go on a date and they trekked/hiked.

---

Carter doubled over, laughing uncontrollably. I glared daggers at him. "Jerk." "Oh- uh are you okay Lynnzie?" Yeah, I totally didn't just slip on some small ass pebbles and fell. I got up and noticed that the knee areas of my tights were all dirty and muddy now. Just saying, the tights were white. I groaned, "They're all dirty now..."

"Sheesh, they can be washed ya weirdo."

"I know but it still sucks. At least I brought a spare set of clothes."

"Good that you did because I know a bagel place you will definitely love and you probably don't want to eat in your muddy attire."

"You sure do know a lot of good food places huh?"

He shrugged and offered a broad smile. "Yeah, I guess."

---

The bagel place he was talking about was called "Tyler's Bagels". The little bell above the door rang as we pushed the door open. A tall and burly man approached us. Carter clasped hands with him and greeted, "Ty my man."

"Good to see you too kiddo." Carter proceeded to lean in and whisper something to him. A knowing smile stretched across Tyler's face as he stuck out his hand towards me. "Nice to meet you, Maddelyn, I'm Ty- short for Tyler- and the owner of this place." While shaking my hand I'm positive he almost broke it because of his strong grip. He led us to our seats and jotted down our orders.

Once he headed for the kitchen, I asked Carter how long he'd known Tyler for. "Since I was thirteen, I discovered this place while I was uh out studying." He clears his throat. "Ty just turned nineteen when he opened the cafe. He'd recently dropped out of culinary school and barely had enough to start this place up. Heck, he even had to loan some money from the bank. Whenever I was free I dropped by the place to help out. Soon, it became basically the best bagel place in town."

"I just got a question... If it's so popular, why isn't anybody else here?" I asked, glancing from empty tables to other empty tables. Tyler came round the corner with our dishes in hand and answered, "Oh that's because your man here booked the whole place for your date." Sliding the plates across the table to us, he smirked and left us with "Enjoy your meals!"

I stared jaw-dropped at my boyfriend. "Cart! You didn't have to do that, it's going to affect his business and besides-" He leaned across the table and claimed my lips in his. Luckily we were seated in a more secluded corner of the cafe where there weren't many waiters and waitresses around. His tongue glided across my bottom lip and I pulled away, eyes-widened and admittedly blushing. "Not here," I said and he pouted, about to start protesting when I shoved a whole bunch of lettuce (from a salad we ordered) into his mouth.

We started on our bagels and can I just say, they were friggin delicious. I swear I was in bagel heaven. Tyler really knows how to make good bagels. Seriously these were the shit. I caught sight of a poster stuck to the wall at the side. Apparently, they were looking for both part-timers and full-timers. And the pay was pretty good. I took out my phone and took a shot of it if I ever needed some extra cash.

"How long did you book this place for?"

"Until 2, why are you asking?"

I shrugged. "Just curious." His face lights up and I wonder what he's thinking. "Let's play twenty-one questions, food edition!" Of course, it was about food. I swear that's the only thing on his mind. "You start," he said nodding towards me.
