.Chapter 24.
So, the hand-holding did not last long. It was a bit of a bummer. Ugh, who was I kidding, the moment we let go of each others' hands, mine was just itching to grab his again. It sucked having to do this constantly, but for his privacy and mine, we had to continue putting up this facade.
We already had a talk about it. If his fans found out we were dating, there would be a part of them that would hate on me for 'taking' their Carter or Ace as he was known in the showbiz, and there would be another part of them that would support and ship us- but that could also lead to them stalking and trying to find out everything about me and my family.
Oh yeah, about Carter's real name, when his fans found out, apparently they started swooning over him even more. There was a huge increase in the number of his followers that month and he received a shit ton more dms. We were still trying to figure out who snitched and we have our suspicions but they haven't been confirmed yet.
The following day, Lu (Luna/Yuna) came and joined us. "Oh my gosh, it's been for- freaking- ever since I last hung out with you guys." setting her lunch tray on the table, she pulled up a chair and took a seat. "I joined the school paper club and it takes up so much of my lunch time I swear," she groaned. Amber barked out a laugh. "Pfft, out of all the other clubs you could've chosen, why'd you join that club?" "Hey, it's fun okay? And on the plus side, you get to be in on all the latest gossip." Amber rolled her eyes. "Still as nosy as ever, eh?"
"If you're in the news club, by any chance do you know who wrote the article about Carter?" I inquired. Her fist clenched for a sliver of a second before relaxing. "No, I don't. All the articles are submitted anonymously. I'll try asking around to see if I can find out who Moon is." "Oh okay, thanks." I couldn't tell whether she was lying or not but I chose to believe her temporarily. I mean I didn't have enough evidence to prove that it was her after all.
In Chemistry, I'm pretty sure I almost corroded my own hand because I didn't read the hazard signs on the bottles. Mr Anderson was like a fraction of an inch from losing his shit and yelling at me. He wrote a lot of things down on his clipboard when I was doing everything wrong. Seriously, I even caused a strike back with the bunsen burner. Whoops.
Last period for that day was PE which I didn't mind much unless we were playing dodgeball. It's not like I didn't like the sport but because Claudia would always, without fail, argue that she didn't get hit by the ball when she clearly did like five times.
Today we were running the mile. Now, this was the one thing Claudia and her friends couldn't escape from, well most of the time. There's only so many 'I'm on my period' excuses you can use. Also, there was no way they could cheat because Ms Clarks ran alongside us, to both motivate us and the formerly stated.
The athletes led the way since well they were athletes duh. Claudia and her squad lacked behind, running with all the people she enjoyed picking on and laughing at. Like surprise, surprise- you're not that great at running the mile either.
At least we ran inside the school compound though because just saying, our gym clothes were hideous. We wore a bright yellow top and dark purple knee-length shorts- about the length of basketball shorts. There have been multiple petitions to change the colours of the clothes but the administration says that the request is still pending. One of the petitions was started three years ago. If they don't want to do anything about it they could've at least just say so instead of continuously lying to our faces.
The locker room, as usual, was a mess and the smell was a mixture of body odour, deodorant, perfume and the usual musty smell. I was in line for the shower and I could feel the heat radiating off everybody. It honestly felt like a sauna. The showers in the locker room weren't totally disgusting. The flooring was clean but the water wasn't heated so nobody dared to use it during winter and the colder times of fall.
