Prom was in two weeks and the promposals were slowly calming down but some still popped up in different, unique ways ... A couple days ago this guy rode a horse into school to ask one of the volleyball players out .
[a/n don't tell me this is unrealistic because it actually happened in California 😂]
There honestly was a small amount of hope inside me that Hayes Grier, my neighbor and friend since we were little , would ask me to go with him . The only one who seemed to have the slightest clue that I had fallen head over heels for Hayes is my best friend Amanda and well that's because I told her.
"So lily...Would you like to come to prom with me ?" Hayes smiled as Lily ran into his arms .
And as he spoke My heart beat had grown to the beating of drum before the wind was knocked right out of my lungs allowing my heart to fall to my feet . My shoes kept me standing there hopelessly ... Don't walk away... they'll know how you feel if you walk now...
I flashed a small smile towards Hayes who looked genuinely happy...My whole body kinda jumped as Amanda's hand rested on my shoulder .
" Gee , are you okay ?..." she whispered softly
" of course ... Hey congrats Lils! You too Hayes- I'll see you guys later my dads picking me up early" maybe it was just me knowing the truth behind my smile ,but my voice seemed distant and distracted...
" Gee don't run from this " Amanda mumbled her warning as I pushed her back a little .
" Ames would you stop right now I just wanna go home ... call me later. I'll be okay" I couldn't force a smile as I looked at her .
"Okay...be safe" Amanda called as I waked right out the school doors.
And if you're wondering no my dad actually isn't here to pick me up I'm just gonna go home so I can be alone for once .
——— Prom Night ———
" Aw GG you look so good" Amanda laughed as we both spun around smiling admiring our dressing that both spun with elegance .
"Promise me your gonna have some fun tonight and not mope about Hayes& Lily" she sighed while grabbing her bag .
" I'll try my best Ames" I laughed softly while walking down the stairs next to Amanda.
" Damn Geeeeee" Amanda's brother Logan chuckles while spinning you around .
" First of all Logan; Were just going on one date . And Second you and Ames are so similar and duh third thanks" I laughed while hugging him .
Amanda was greeted by her date and we headed out to the party limo that our group had rented. Logan helped me in and as I looked up to see Hayes sitting in the corner with his arm draped around Lily's shoulders . The familiar emptiness took over me as Hayes looked up to watch me fall forward.
[ walking around in limos is like l got hard af I've done this a million times 😂 ]
"Are you okay G?" Hayes sat forward quickly
" Fine" I nodded as I took my seat between Amanda and Logan who protectively held my knee, a little closer up my thigh. If it was any other guy I would've been worried about Logan is basically my older brother .
" So guys we're gonna head out to the park by the lake with all the fountains and pretty like trees and stuff for pictures" Lily smiled as she leaned into hayes' chest .
Once again I got that sinking feeling ...
Logan gently squeezed my knee and kissed m cheek lightly while whispering " Youre better than her relax . He's just dumb" faintly .
I laughed softly as I wrapped my arms around his torso smiling .
As we all climbed out the car I had Logan holding my hand so I could properly slide without tripping again. I stood up straight and went to go see all my friends but of course Hayes grabbed my hand. I'm not sure what the feeling was when he touched me it was like a mix of excitement and repulse . He slid his hands to my hips and pulled me in close to his chest, his lips lightly grazing my cheek . Hayes's hot breath against my ear as he whispered a small " You look absolutely Gorgeous Georgia"
His hands stayed firmly on my hips as he pulled away slightly , my arms still hanging around his neck.
" Boy I've told you a million times not to call me that. Every-time you do I get to Call you Benjamin you know the rules" we both laughed as he walked back to Lily and her short strapless lilac dress .
My heart was still pounding and my stomach fluttered from the way Hayes held me to the way his lips felt against my cheek while his hot breath tickled my neck .
" You're staring" Logan chuckled as he lifted me up above his head smiling.
" I didn't — Ahhh Loggie!" I laughed and squirmed around in his arms .
" aw little peaches is scared" Logan laughed while gently setting me down so I would hurt my ankle .
We look a couple group photos before heading out to the dance .

Hayes had his arms around Lily as they slow danced chest to chest so frankly I took extreme interest in my heels.
HAYES POV
GG's been acting so weird today ...
She's barely talking to me .
But let me be honest with you . She looks amazing . I can t take my eyes off her . When she got into the limo it's like she had grabbed me and had me completely under her spell. The only problem is that she's with Logan and I'm here with Lily. But I need to dance with Gee before I leave tonight...
" hey Hayes , I've gotta head out . MY dad says it's getting late so he's picking me up " Lily smiled apologetically.
"Oh alright I'll walk you out" I nodded and took her hand in mine .

Gee's POV
The crowd around me started to sway as I made my way out of the dance hall. The ground beneath my feet slowly starting to melt away and swirl before I made it outside by the pond . I sat on the small stone bench my head in my hands and my heart racing . There were too many people ; too many noises ; too much everything going on inside me... from the aching in my chest to the pounding in my head I was a mess. Lily and Hayes spent the night laughing and dancing... They spent the night ....happy.
I'm so pathetic I can't even tell Hayes I like him and then I sit around acting like I was perfectly okay with this but inside I want to cry.
" Gee where'd you go- well I mean like you when here but uh why'd you leave the dance ?" Hayes ran up a little out of breath .
" I Uhm ... there was just too much going on inside. Noises and my mind was racing I just needed to escape" I croaked softly
" I understand that" Hayes chuckled as he sat next to me " Lily just left and went home , apparently she has a curfew that stands even for prom" he laughed
" Yeah" I chuckled despite the tension in my throat .
"Gee what's wrong ? You've been acting weird lately?...." his tone had a hint of did I do something wrong hidden behind it.
I shook my head before mumbling " I dunno my anxiety's just been acting up"
" here , lemme help you relax" Hayes said standing up and looking down at his phone .
"Put this in" He smiled as he plugged his headphones into his phone .
You stood up next to him and slipped the small white plastic into your ear as Hayes started a song . His arms wrapped themselves around your waist pulling you close against him, your head resting against his chest . Carefully Hayes started to sway back and forth with me in his arms lulling me to an amazing state of calmness. There was just something about Hayes, maybe it was his voice , the cologne or maybe it was just the way the moon reflected on his face.... there was just something about him that mad it extremely if not impossible to forget.
