Beneath the Surface

Chapter 14

The day after our first kiss, we had to be up early for an all day swim meet.

"Nice pajamas girl" Andy said to me as I walked on the bus. I was indeed wearing pajamas and they were spongebob. I could care less. It's my tradition and I'm sticking to it.

"Thanks," I answer. "If I'm gonna wake up at 6, I'm gonna wear my pajamas."

"Right on my sister!" I hear from a sleepy Erin.

I plop in the seat across from Arianna and behind Erin and Andy. Even though it was early, we were already deep into chit chat.

When Brittany got on, we all got quiet. She passed us on her way to the back. She looked at my pants and rolled her eyes. She kept on going.

When she was gone, I looked at the girls and rolled my eyes "Haters gonna hate." I leaned up on the window and closed my eyes. I thought I might catch a nap befor-

"Is this seat taken?" a tired Arnesto asked.

" Yea. By you". I say. He plops done next to me and puts his arm around me. he leans over and kisses me right in front of my friends.

"Well aren't you two moving quickly?" Arianna teased.

"NO PURPLE!!" Erin and Andy scream from in front of us.

Me and Arnesto tried to laugh it off, but coach Brent came to investigate.

"Hand check?"he said with a raised eyebrow. We raised our hands. And laughed. Satisfied he left us alone.

Eventually the bus left and out of habit, everyone on the bus fell asleep. Everyone, except for me and Arnesto.

Once we were sure everyone was asleep, we started making out. My gosh, he is a good kisser. I swear. We kissed for 20 minutes straight and never got bored.

When we started to get close, people were waking up, so we stopped. I chatted with the girls for the last few minutes and Arnesto quietly observed.

We got off the bus and headed to the locker rooms. Once inside, we changed into our suits.

Most of our team was heading out. Brittany was following the heard. When she passed me, she looked at me and said "you're such a little slut." and walked away.

Once she left the room, I burst into tears. Arianna was standing nearby when this all happened and came up to hug me.

"Don't let her get to you,"she says trying to comfort me.

"But but what if she knows? About the- about the thing," I sob.

"I'm sure she doesn't know you were raped last year. She's probably still jealous that you're dating Arnesto. She's the real whore. She probably saw you kiss and her envy is showing through. You're fine."

Arianna rubs my back and hands me my towel. I wipe away my tears. " You really think so?"

She grabs her bag and comes back to me "I know so, Lilly. Now go out there and kick her butt.".

I laugh and pick up my bag "figuratively or literally?"

Arianna looks me in the eye "both."
