Beneath the Surface

Chapter 4

After practice, the girls and I are going to spend the night at Arianna's. Nothing feels better than movie and pizza after an exausting 2 hours in hell.

We're heading out to Arianna's car in the parking lot, when I realize I forgot my scarf down in the locker room. I start feeling around my neck just to make sure that it's really not there. I told them I'd be back in a minute before I raced back inside to get it. It's only late November so I'm more worried abut theft than I am temperature.

I went into the locker room and found my scarf still sitting on the bench, right where I left it. I grabbed it and headed out the door. As I rushed out the door, I put all my attention into tying it perfectly around my neck. I'm so busy fixing my scarf, I run straight into Arnesto, almost knocking him over.

" Oh! I'm so sorry." I apologized. I should have been more careful, but honestly if I haven't learned by now in my life, I probably never will. Once a klutz, always a klutz. 

"It's cool, Lilly" he said. "But I think you dropped this." He reached down and picked up my phone off the floor. It must of fell out of my pocket when we collided. I hadn't even noticed. I was too busy looking  at  his deep brown eyes.

I put my hand out so he can give it to me, but before he hands it back to me, Arnesto starts messing with it. He started pushing buttons and sliding his fingers across it. Before I could ask what he was doing, he gave it back to me.

"That's my number," he said. Ernest turned to walk up the stairs to the door. "I'll be waiting for a text later.Don't make me wait too long. See ya".

He smiles at me and  walks up the stairs. I followed after him. At this point, I'm so confused, I didn't even realize my feet were moving. It's a miracle that I didn't fall.  By the time I got up to the door, Arnesto had disappeared from my sight completely.

"Huh," I said to myself. "That was quite unusual. Maybe he really does belong here." I walk out the door and towards the waiting car. All the while, all I thought about was what had just happened. I tried to make sense from it, but all I could seem to think of was his eyes.

"This movie is so stupid." Erin said throwing popcorn at the tv. She yawned and we took the popcorn continer away from her. 

"You take that back!!" we all said in unison. We know that Erin has different tastes than us, but there's no way we can just let her diss our favorite movie.

"But come on," Erin whined. "He's a snowman, that likes summer. Like, That's just stupid. It makes no freaking sense."

" It's adorable and funny and the greatest movie of all time," I told her. 

Erin rolled her eyes and said "I seriously doubt some dumb kids movie owns that title"

Arianna looked at her funny and said "What? You don't wanna build a snowman?"

Andy and I laughed. Erin threw popcorn at Arianna " Go away Anna."

 Me and Andy stifle a laugh, because Arianna does not look amused by the pun. She looks more like "this shit is about to get real". She instantly climbs over us to get Erin and full out tackles her.. "How dare you call me th-"

I do my best to pull her off ( which isn't that hard. She's as light as a feather, and couldn't fight back if she tried. I sit her back on her ass and say to her with the most straight face I can muster,
" Girl. Just let it go." She looked at me and laughed and we all started singing. Even if the songs do get annoying after awhile, you can't deny they are catchy.

When the movie was over, we got down to all the girlie gossip. None of us really enjoy it, but somehow it always happens. It's like teenage girls just can't seem to have a sleepover without it. It must be in the job description or something.
