Monday morning in chemistry class , the girls wasted no time before they began to pounce on me. Arianna, Erin, and Andy were all dying for the details of my date with Arnesto. They didn't even let me reach my seat at our table near the left side of the room before they started ambushing me for information. All at once, it was a flurry of questions coming at me.
"So how'd it go?" "Where did you two go?" Was it romantic?" "Does he have a car?" "Does he have cute single friends?" "Was it amazing?""Did he kiss you?"
I looked at them, trying to absorb what they were saying, but I ended up giving up and rolled my eyes at them. If I didn't know better, I'd say they've been hanging out with Brittany and her friends a little too much, but considering how they were behaving, you could fool me. I take my gold old time setting my books up on the table after I take a seat. I reach into my bag, serching for my pencil. As I do so, I completely ignore them, which annoys them. I finally settle into class before I look up and see them all looking at me expectantly. I sigh and try to answer as much as I can in a hushed tone since class was beginning. "It was alright. We just went to Olive Garden and a movie, so not really that romantic. It was actually pretty awkward for most of it. He doe have a car, but I'm going to have to say no to the friends thing. And no, he did not kiss me. "
Although after I answer the last one, I realize that to be honest, I might have let him if he tried. But considering how they were already reacting to pretty much nothing, I'd never let any of my friends know it. what happens between the two of us can stay between just us. It can be like another mystery to add to mysterious eyes. I sigh. If I had gotten any more lost in those dreamy eyes of his, he probably could have talking me into robbing a pizza hut and I probably wouldn't have noticed.
I unfortunately have this tendency to get lost in my thoughts, and once I'm lost I have no idea what I'm doing, let alone saying. I didn't realize how far I had zoned out until it was to late. Not only were my friends staring at me, the whole class was, including Mr. Bonza. Things got pretty awkward, very quickly.
"Well I for one didn't know I wasn't the only one who thought chemistry was dreamy," Mr. Bonza said as stroked his long brown beard. The whole class laughed at me as I blushed bright red and slide as far down into my seat as I possibly could. Curse me and not being able to keep my thoughts in my brain. Well, at least am in the back left where hopefully no one will notice me for the rest of class.
I tried to focus the rest of class but I just couldn't. Everytime I saw Mr. Boza's face I would blush uncontrollably from what had happened earlier and I would have to look away. Chemistry was pretty much a lost cause. The only thing I wanted to discuss right now was the possible chemistry between me and arnesto, not hydrogen and oxygen.
About 5 minutes before the bell, I can't take it anymore. I turn to a blank page in the back of my notebook and begin to scribble a message. I rip it out as quietly as I can to not draw any more attention to me today. I fold it up in our signature girl fashion before I slide the note to Arianna, since it's the last time I'll see her before swimming.
She didn't read it right away. I was almost a little upset by that. It took a lot of courage for me to write that note because for me, it was hard to admit to. And also I was risking another chance to end up in Mr. Bonza's spotlight. But I knew she wouldn't be able to resist forever. Arianna cares more about cold hot dogs than she does chemistry, unless it's between people. She finally opens the note to read it just before the bell rings. I see her move her hand to cover her mouth as I quickly gather my stuff to avoid confrontation. She was practically screaming with joy as I ran out the door. I luckily managed to escape her grasp before she could hug me to death.
Whoever knew a little piece of paper with 5 words could mean so much: "We have another date tomorrow."
