Flashback

A red canister was thrown at my feet. It began to smoke. I looked at Clarke and Jasper. They looked just as confused as me. I saw Anya look at more of the canisters. Her eyes were full of fear. My initial thoughts were another grounder attack, but her reaction made me rethink. The smoke from the canister started to get on my chest. I started coughing. I felt dizzy and tired. I fell to the floor. Vision blurred. Maybe this was it, this was the end. At least I would se my dad and Bellamy again.

Present Day

I woke up what felt like seconds later. Groaning I turned to my side to find a fire burning. "Where am I?" I mumbled. I slowly sat up and realised I was in the woods. "Clarke? Raven? Miller? Anybody?" I screamed as loud as I could. All I got as a reply was silence. Now I know I didn't drag myself here nor did I start the fire. So someone must have taken me. A twig snapped behind me. I whirled round and was met by a grounder. "Please don't hurt me?" I feigned weakness and fear.

He looked at me and scoffed. "The scared little sky person ruse won't work on me Athena!" I looked at him shocked that he knew my name.

"How...how do you know who I am?" I stood staring at him, unable to move. Either through actual fear or through shock. He stood there looking at me as if I was stupid.

"I was with Anya when Clarke went to speak with her. Clarke mentioned you, as did Lincoln when he set up the meet. My name is Atlas." I smiled, Bellamy would love this guy. Named after the Titan who holds up the world. God I'm getting more geeky by the minute. I laughed. Atlas looked at me like I was nuts.

"I'm sorry. Someone I care about or rather cared about loves Greek mythology and your name would have him talking nonstop about the Titan Atlas." Now it was his turn to laugh. He walked towards the fire and set down his catch. "Good hunt I take it!" I pointed to the bore.

"A very good hunt. How are you feeling?" He asked. In all the confusion I hadn't even realised I was hurt. "I found you outside your ship. No one else there by the way." My face fell at this news. "You had an arrow in your leg how it got there I don't know." He looked at me. "Do you know?"

I slowly sat next to him shaking my head. "No! The last thing I know is I'm walking outside with what is left of my people and Anya. Then red smoke is filling the air." I looked into the fire trying to think if I was hit before I went to the dropship. Nothing came to mind.

"Well whatever happened it stopped the mountain men from taking you. Must have thought you wasn't good enough for their tests." I looked at him.

"Mountain men?" I questioned

"They live in the mountain...obviously. They take grounders and do experiments on them. They turn into reapers, some don't even come out like that. So what they want your friends for I don't know."

I thought for a moment then spoke. "Have you seen these mountain men outside the mountain?" He nodded at me. "What were they wearing?"

"Suits with hats. It covered their entire body." He replied. Hazemat suits. They can't breath the air.

"The radiation will kill them." Atlas looked at me as I started to piece things together. "They can't breath the air as they have been living in the mountain since the nuclear war. We have adapted to it. You.." I pointed to Atlas. "Through your family living on the surface. Me and my friends from living in space and close to the sun. The suns radiation made us immune to the radiation on earth. That is how we survived."

"So why do they want your friends?" I shrugged not knowing the answer.

"We need to get into mount weather. We need to get our people out." I looked at Atlas who scoffed.
