Madison knew where she trying to go. Only problem was that she didn't know which way that was. After entering the woods she had gotten very confused as to which way was which. She knew walking in the woods at night was dangerous. She could hardly see so the likelihood of tripping was high. Despite the danger and her confusion she just kept walking.
Eventually she'd find civilization or a road. She hoped that would be before she hit the other side of the country. Continuing to walk could get her very far from her destination but she didn't care enough to stop. Her heart was hammering against her ribs but she kept walking.
She'd been walking for at least two hour according to her watch. Her legs were nearing the point where they'd give out under her. The wet, muddy clothes she wore clung to her body. Water was sloshing around in her shoes every time she dragged her feet forwards. Her hair was soaked, half due to sweat and half due to the damp woods.
For some reason Noir hadn't showed up despite her weak state. Madison was pretty sure he was just trying to calm down so he could torture her more instead of immediately killing her. Despite her reasoning she was still very paranoid he'd show up.
As she jumped over a log with what little strength she had her left shin crashed into a protruding branch. She landed on her feet but didn't stay that way. Her left leg caved in pain under the pressure of standing. As she fell onto the muddy ground she reached for her shin which was throbbing. After a good ten minutes the pain had become bearable enough to walk.
When she got to her feet she noticed a familiar tree. A fir tree so large it took five people to reach around it. Many trees in the area could be described as such but this tree had a more unique feature. This tree, known as Lucy, had a yellow bench seated in front of it. Madison knew where she was now. Somehow she was surprisingly close to her planned destination.
She was planning on going to the well, the well with the Grundwasser. It was the best place to avoid her family and friends. Plus she had a lot to say to him. The well was only fifteen minutes from Lucy. Madison was very relieved to know where she was.
Madison limped in the direction which she knew now was right. After half an hour she reached a clearing. The limping had slowed her down a lot. Before her sat a stone well, a stone well that contained the grundwasser.
"Grundwasser," Madison called into the well. The only sound she heard was the echo of her own voice.
"I'm alone," she tried to get a reply again.
"Drop down the bucket," an inhuman voice croaked.
