The second Madison saw those familiar red eyes her heart seemed to rocket out of her chest. This was different than past meetings. In the past she had people around; people he could make her seem crazy to. This time it was only her. All he would be able to do was torment or kill her. Due to his last burst of rage she was pretty sure he'd be leaning to the latter option. This could be the day she'd die. She hoped it wasn't, but how could she know?

Madison had no clue how one was supposed to react when someone who potentially wanted to murder you was nearby. She knew he was here because of her, why else would he be here? Madison silently crept towards the alley. Sure, a dark alley doesn't seem like a safe place; it definitely wasn't one; however in this situation it was. It was better than being in the open. It was somewhere she hoped Noir couldn't see her. She didn't know what Noir saw; after all, he always seemed to know where she was.

Trouble was, Madison was rotten at sneaking around, especially sneaking around while walking backwards. She was nearly in the alley when she bumped into a trash can. It didn't fall over but the lid did clatter to the ground. Madison almost jumped at the sound. She certainly wasn't the only one to hear it; this became clear when she saw Noir heading in her direction. Turning, she gave up on the sneaking and ran down the alley, she tried her best to keep her distance from the people that didn't seem to have the best motives. Madison found herself running down alley after alley, but no matter how fast or far she ran she still felt Noir's presence. She wasn't getting anywhere. She couldn't see him but she knew he was close.

Eventually she found she couldn't run any further like a deer that was being chased by a wolf she had reached the end of the line. She couldn't go further regardless of her potential doom. She sat against the gritty wall. Her movement had kept her warm, but now that she was still the cold seemed to be enveloping her. Quiet and still, she listened. The alley she was in was empty excluding her and the rats. She could hear them scuttle around, but that was bout all she could hear. Noir was near, but he wasn't making a sound, perhaps he meant to scare her worse than she already was. Carelessly she rested her head on the wall, if it was the end of the line what did her hair's cleanliness matter. Suddenly she heard soft footsteps. She wasn't sure if she simply hadn't noticed them earlier or if they had been silenced by some sort of magic. Quietly she wished that she was invisible, no use.

The footsteps were nearing. Madison saw a familiar shadow like figured peer down the alley she'd paused in. He noticed her immediately, what else did she expect? His steps were soft, gentle, and nothing like his personality. If one were to describe his personality by his footstep they would be ever so mistaken. Perhaps the irony of his footsteps made him all the more terrifying. It meant you wouldn't expect his true nature. He was nearing Madison, but she didn't move. She couldn't move all her energy was long gone. She doubted she could even stand. His laughter seemed to stab at her head, perhaps it was due to her exhaustion, or perhaps it was the volume among the silence of night. It was the laughter of someone who had finally won. The sound was soaked with relief and amusement. He was amused; to him this was a game. To Madison this was life.

"You know we really should talk more," he stood above her.

"I'd prefer to never hear your voice," Madison spoke freely, after all being polite wouldn't get her out of this.

"You've got such a fiery personality. It's quite fun to see you like this, Madison. Weak, pathetic," he said, his laugh rocketing from wall to wall.

"I'm not the pathetic one," Madison tried to push herself into a better sitting position and failing.

"Sure. See, Madison, I've been following you for a bit. I didn't expect you to actually believe Dr. Fox. Honestly I thought you'd always believe I killed your dad. It's much lovelier to blame someone else, someone you don't love. Now you see, I was doing you a favour," he said with smile that would strike fear into even the bravest adult.

"Keep your stupid favours, I don't want them," Madison muttered.

"This is what I get for doing you a favour; you know sometimes I just wonder why I'm so kind," he shook his head softly.

"Leave me alone you bastard!" Madison got up the strength to shout.

Madison had never used such a nasty word. Her mum would probably knock her upside the head if she knew Madison had said it. There were just times when people or creatures seemed to deserve it. If Noir didn't deserve it then no one did. He couldn't help but laugh at the girl. To him her using such a word was a victory, a very amusing victory.

"How'd you know? I've never told you about my family life have I?" he said with a chuckle.

"No," Madison said her thoughts a little muddled.

"Well as I'm sure you can assume my dad's the devil. It's easy to tell as I'm so devilishly handsome. My mum never met her, some foolish human girl. You probably don't care about my family though."

"..." Madison fell silent.

"Well I just came to say hi. It had been too long since we spoke. I better get going though. People to torture, you know how it is," he said with an evil smile.

"We can meet again, how about some time this weekend? Does that work for you? Well, I'm sure it does, you don't have a life after all. Farewell," he laughed before vanished into smoke.

Madison sat there in absolute shock.
