Elijah cut up the turkey, each piece was placed on plates as we all loaded on the other dishes. "So what goddess do you say thanks too?" I asked Lora as she smiled with amusement.
"We give thanks to the moon goddess like you would to god. We up here on the mountain believe in her being the one that helps our people and our land to provide food for us along with many other things." She explained as I nodded to that.
"This mountain is call mountain moon because of the many stories that surround it about the moon goddess and the archangels of heaven that were said to live up here." Mariah provided with a smile but in the corner of my eyes I noticed Elijah pause seeming to go rigged.
"What kind of stories?" I asked as everyone looked to Elijah.
"It's quite a depressing story for such a happy day. I'll tell you one day." He said with an edge as everyone nodded their heads in understanding.
I was quite curious but by the way Elijah reacted to the mention of the story it must be truly tragic one that could border a sensitive subject for reasons obviously unknown to me. Dinner picked up with more conversation on daily community things as the girls talked about winter starting with Christmas around the corner. Soon it was time for dessert as I happily waited for Mariah to say her dessert was done from cooking in the oven. Elijah thankfully gave her a slice of the pie but true to his word no one else got any by request. Marcus had to steal a bite along with the rest of everyone else as I smiled at his pouting face. Once Mariah had declared her dish was ready I scooped up a hearty amount as Ellis with Lora joining in. It was simply amazing, loving the pumpkin with marshmallows now gooey on top with a golden browning holding in the cinnamon greedily. I asked her to leave the recipe making it a even trade on desserts giggling with each other.
"So are you going to attend the winter festival as well?" Elizabeth piped up as I turned to Elijah.
"It's not like the autumn festival. More like the birthday party. It's held by the waterfall with a large bonfire and a lot of drinking." Todd explained seeming to jump into a memory of last year with Marcus apparently about him thinking he could fly diving into the water. It sounded crazy by how high it was but then again I had survived the drop surprisingly.
"Oh that sounds like a lot of fun!" Mariah smiled as Ellis beside her kissed the side of her cheek.
"You'll love it. All the girls will be there and everyone dance around the fire, play hunting games with many other fun activities." Lucas explained happily.
"Poor Todd won't be able to go. You have to help to prepare for your cousins coming next week." Lex teased his son.
"Oh come on! You know they'll just distort the house the moment they get there!" He whined as I giggled seeing Marcus roll his eyes.
"Curfew is midnight then." Lora countered.
"You can't be serious! Even the girls are going and I bet they have no curfew!" He breathed with both his parents smiling.
"Dude it's better than nothing. They have their parents under there thumb. Girls always know how to seem innocent and next second bam, feisty." Ellis stated as Todd breathed a fine will Mariah hitting him against his chest playfully with a small smile.
"When is it?" I asked.
"It's next Friday. I'll take you, it starts at sundown." Elijah explained while he drank the last of his wine everyone grinning widely at his response.
After that the girls helped me clear the table as Elizabeth did more fancy magic work by delicately cleaning the plates as Lora and I dried then put them away. It still amazed me to see her use magic doing just regular things like this wondering what else she could do. I packed several containers for everyone to go home with, seeing as my refrigerator wouldn't be able to hold all the food. With a few more laughing chats everyone started to head out. It was late as I hugged everyone goodbye while Lucas trailed behind Todd seeming to get themselves into playing video games at his house leaving Elijah and I completely alone.
