I woke up early on Friday morning to go for a run, but changed my mind. I wasn't feeling it anymore. And since the party was today and I haven't pampered myself in a while, I decided to go to Luxe Nail Spa. A pedicure and manicure would do me some good!

"Ooooh! Pretty color." I complimented Camille. Next to Lexi and Kristian, Camille is one of my closest friends. Camille and my parents have known each other for a pretty long time. So from there on, we became best friends. We would do everything together. Until the beginning of Freshman  year. We just stopped talking, but I never really knew why and no one bothered to ask. And when we were forced to talk to each other, it would be wayyy too awkward.

I guess we grew apart.

But since both of us are cheerleaders on the same team, we had to talk basically everyday. At practices, games, etc. So we kinda started speaking, and later became friends again. We went from inseparable to just friends... that don't speak to eachother. We never really hang out anymore, only a few times.

Camille and I still share everything with each other. She knows everything about me, I know everything about her. We're one of those best friends that don't have to hang out everyday, but still have the same bond as before. But there was always one problem... Lexi. They never liked each other and I don't know why. Camille and Kristian would get along perfectly fine, but Lexi and her never gave each other the time of day.

That's why I didn't invite Lexi to get our nails done today. And she'll probably throw a fit.

"Thanks, guurll! It's scented," She squealed. "This would definitely match my dress for the party."

I got home just in time! The mail man handed me the mail and the box of shoes I had ordered last month. It was finally here, after the malfunctions of shipping it from across the country. I was going through the mail and saw the an envelope with a notice on it. I rarely ever open my parents' mail, but this looked important. And I knew my mom wouldn't get here till late at night.

I opened the door, went to the kitchen and opened the envelope. I read the notice, stating that if the light bill isn't paid by Sunday, it would be cut off.

I knew we were having trouble paying the bills ever since Charles lost his job, but I never knew it would come to this point.

I dug into my purse and pulled out my check book. Since I've been saving money for college and other expenses, I had a little cash to spare. I had no other option but to write a check to the lighting company and paid the bill, so my mother wouldn't have to worry about it.

I've told her many times, to let Dad help, but she would never take up the offer. I guess, this is what I'll have to if we keep going like this.

I slid my dress and shoes on. My make-up was already done. It's 7:30 now. I told Lexi and Camille I'll meet them at the party. Krisitan called to see if I was getting ready, so he'll pick me up at 8 still. As time passed by, I started getting butterflies about riding the thirty minute ride downtown to the party.

It's gonna be kind of weird, though. We're never really alone like this.

I went downstairs into the kitchen and saw Charles sitting on one of the stools, looking through the mail. He looked up at me. "Hey." I gave him a tight lipped smile as my response. He nodded and shook his head. "Where are you going dressed like that?" I rolled my eyes and gave him the answer I always gave him.
