"Dreams."

song: Wake Me Up by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

I'd been having a hard time with dealing with Sailor lately. I'm not sure why I even like her sometimes. My crush on her is just a pain in the -ss, honestly. I don't understand. I don't understand why I like her.

It was bedtime, so after a prayer, my head hit the white downy pillow and I dozed off after maybe seven minutes.

[...]

I've always had the weirdest dreams. Sometimes their plot line I can't even figure out after I've woken up. Every now and then, I get far into the dream.

This was one of them.

Actually, multiple dreams went on.

I was entered in some race, 400 meters, around the track at my school. The track pavement is red, the lines are white, the clouds above are the same white, the sky is blue as it nearly always is, and the bleachers are a silvery metal that shines so brightly it hurts my eyes, although I hardly can look at the bleachers themselves considering they are full.

A crowd was gathered in both bleachers and along the sides of the track fence. Their clothes are of all colors, all styles, just as they are themselves of different ethnicities and lifestyles. All the lanes around me were filled with other runners. I was in the second lane, so I would have the second-shortest lap. Not the shortest, but I would still have some advantage.

The official in black-and-white pinstripes fired a blank out of a black pistol and we racers started running. I was doing great at first, keeping pace with the people in the lead with me, when everything started to slow down. Well, I started to slow down, everything around me started slowing down, except the runners, they ran as fast as they had before. They were leaving me behind.

I willed myself to sprint faster, to try and run at anything faster than this rate of a crawl. I couldn't, it was like trudging through a quagmire or being drowned in a hill of sand.

I looked to the side at the crowd. All the colors and surroundings were blurring, but I saw the faces of everyone I knew, all my friends from school, my parents, the rest of my family, and so on. I could see Serendipity, Remi, Virgo, Dawn, Blossom, Lottie...just everyone. Except there was one that actually wasn't there. Sailor wasn't there. She wasn't.

That broke my heart.

I tumbled out of the dream into the darkness between dreams. I came back, reborn into a new dream. I was sitting on a hill at night time. There was a single dark green tree, and I was sitting underneath it, and it was tall, very bushy with thick healthy foliage as well. Its trunk was a bit of a gnarled and knotted tan wood, but it held itself up well. It extended a good twenty feet high.

The hill I was sitting on was the tallest compared to all the hills around. The grass was long, long enough to need mowing, but it felt cool and soft to touch and sit on. The grass extended on all the hills in all directions, with no patches uncovered, no weeds breaking the pattern. I could still feel the airy, crumbling soil underneath seat of my pants, that which the grass clung to; the soil was dark with nutrients I guessed, but not firm enough to hold without the rigid discipline of the grass roots.

People were walking up and down the hills. I saw my friends; I saw how they pointed to things in the purple midnight sky with amazement on their faces. So, I looked up with them.

Oh my. Every star I had seen and never seen was up there. I could see nebulae and the other galaxies with my unaided eyes. Being in the dream, I zoomed in on planets and the moon. How beautiful they were, to see these sights impossible to see anywhere else. The colors were magnificent, I could even taste the flavors of quarks drifting here from afar...mmm, raspberry. I waved my friends over and we all pointed, looking and enjoying the sight.
