This is genderswap, as requested by a reader, so March is now...wait for it...Mars! Sailor is now Sawyer, Dawn is now Dusky, and more!
Sorry for taking so long on the request, too. College keeps me busy...
"Coming Out."
MarsxSawyer
"So you're dating Sawyer? You really are?" Dusky questioned.
Sawyer and I nodded. "Yeah. It's true, man."
"What do your parents think?"
And with that, Dusky put the controversy front-and-center. My mom couldn't care less, but my father, man...he would be so angry. He doesn't believe in people being gay, and if I told him that me, his son, was bisexual...he'd never forgive me. What if he beat me? What if he kicked me out on the street? What if I wasn't allowed to see Sawyer ever again?
"We...haven't told them." Sawyer muttered.
Dusky glared at me like it was MY fault. "Well, shouldn't you? How long have you two been dating, anyways?"
"We've been dating since last Friday." I answered.
Dusky clapped his hands. "Haha, well then...looks like you better get a move on, the longer you keep it a secret, the more angry they'll be once they find out you've been hiding it from them."
"I doubt it. I've managed to keep my bisexuality a secret from my parents since sophomore year." I snapped.
Dusky waved his hands in mock surrender. "I'm just saying. Once this blows up in both your faces, guys, don't come crying to me. All I'm going to say is 'I told you so.'"
"Whatever, man." Sawyer led me away before I could keep arguing with Dusky.
Sawyer is a pretty-boy. He's the kind that ladies love for his charm, looks, and smooth singing voice. He has thick blond hair and dreamy light blue eyes. Sawyer used to have serious dental issues until he got braces; he only got those off a month ago. Sawyer must have had a million girlfriends, but none ever really treated him right.
I, personally, look like a very stereotypical Asian. Dark, thick black hair, small dark eyes, but a bright, white smile. The ladies love me too, but most of them are only after homework help, unfortunately.
Dusky and Sawyer go to the same school, which is in a town out east of where I live, so they spend a lot of time together. They're best friends and have known each other ever since they were in diapers. I know Dusky flirts with Sawyer a lot, and the two have kissed before, but Dusky is so far in the closet that he probably doesn't even realize he's bisexual. Dusky gets a new girlfriend around near...everyday. It might even be better, at least for Sawyer and me, if Dusky stays oblivious to the fact he experienced same gender attraction. Or at least for me. I suspect if Dusky faces his feelings, he'll go after Sawyer, begging to be with him. And as Sawyer's boyfriend, I can't have that.
I prompted Sawyer after Dusty had left, "Your parents or mine first?"
"Please, please not my parents." Sawyer never begged, but this was close.
We went to my house and played some video games for a while, until my mom and dad got home at five pm. I was shaking and nervous, but finally found the courage to speak.
I asked, "Mom? Dad?"
"What is it, Mars?" Dad looked irritated because the front stove burner wasn't working again.
I chickened out. "Never mind."
Sawyer glared at me, but I took his distraction as an opportunity to smash his car in a t-bone takedown.
"Hey!" Sawyer complained.
I grinned. "You snooze, you lose."
Sawyer rolled his eyes and kissed me on the cheek. There was a gasp and I turned my head just in time to see my father drop his glass of milk after my mom had just handed it to him.
"Mars, we need to talk." My mother says firmly.
My dad added, "Alone."
"Whatever you want to say, you can say in front of my boyfriend, Sawyer." I put my hand on his shoulder.
No matter what they said, at least I could say I had the courage to claim Sawyer as my own. He is my boyfriend and I love him. What claim can Dusky have now? Ha!
