Chapter 8

The smell of smoke and the soft calling of my name awoke me from my once peaceful sleep. "Nnng....un? What the....HOLY SHIT! DELSIN?! What are you doing in my room?!" Standing next to my bed was none other than said conduit, the curious gleam in his eyes still visible even in the dark of night.

"Whoa there, Bella. Just calm down! I couldn't sleep, what with Reggie's snoring and all."

Sitting up I began to rub the sleep from my eyes. 'How did he even get in here? I could've sworn that I had locked the door.'

"Sorry," I said with a yawn. "But what do you want me to do about it?" Looking back at him, I could see that Delsin was watching me with pleading eyes.

"Huh? Oh no! Nonononono! Absolutely not!" I shook my head violently. "No way, Delsin! You are NOT going to sleep in here with me!"

"Oh, come on Isabella!" Delsin whined. "You have no idea how bad it is! Here just listen-"

The room grew quiet but before long a clearly audible snore could be heard coming from the next room.

"See. I can hear him all the way in here! Please! You can't be so heartless as to send me back in there and deprived me of my beauty sleep....(not that I need it)....can you?"

All I could do was look at him with a blank stare. I already had to deal with Delsin enough for one day, so I sure as hell wasn't about to let the source of my problems jump into bed with me.

"Bella," Delsin asked in a now more serious tone. "Please, just this once? I'm asking you as one conduit to another. Please?"

Even if it was Delsin, the puppy-dog look that he was giving could have melted anyone's heart. "Ugh....fine." I submitted in defeat. "Just this once, but I swear Delsin. If you try anything funny, it'll be the last thing you do."

Already I could hear Delsin taking off his clothes as to sleep more comfortably. "And your pants and shirt stay on!" I quickly added.

"Ok, ok. Whatever you say, Bella."

After a few seconds, Delsin climbed into the bed wearing his jeans and plaid button-up shirt. With my back turned towards him, I rested my head back down on my pillow although unsure about being able to get any sleep after this. Next to me, Delsin nestled down into the pillows and sheets, letting out a contented sigh.

It took a while but I had finally gotten use to this new arrangement and was slowly drifting off back to sleep. That's when I felt two strong arms wrap around my waist and pull me into a firm chest. Instantly my eyes shot open and my cheeks flushed red.

"D-Delsin! Wh-what did I just s-say?" I stuttered out, to which he let out a small chuckle. God, did he love seeing me so flustered.

"Hey, you never said anything about snuggling." Came his smooth reply.

"....B-but...I...uh-"

"Shhh." He softly cooed. "It's all right. Just relax and you'll be back to sleep in no time."

I could feel him slightly nuzzle his head into my neck, breathing in the lovely scent that my freshly washed hair gave off.

In a voice that was barely a whisper, I struggled to get out "O-okay...." Delsin's embrace was completely new to me but in a matter of seconds, I could feel myself growing to enjoy it. The soft sound of his steady breathing and the warmth of his presence slowly lulled me to sleep. Just as my eyes closed I heard the faint mention of a good night from a silky voice and I was instantly plunged into a peaceful sleep.
