Justin and I were welcomed by stares coming from every single person of the student body. Shock was written in each of the faces. Maybe being exclusive wasn't a good idea. I had a feeling Justin can tell that I was feeling anxious when he tighten the grip on our jointed hands. I looked up at him with fear in my eyes. I was rewarded with a wink that made my heart smile. There's no reason to be scared girl.
We reached Justin's secret hide out spot by the main building, south side stairwell that no one ever uses. I looked down at my watch to check the time. Only thirty minutes left. We were welcomed by the shouts of Justin's friends greeting us. I was only familiar with one of them and that was Corey. The same guy that gave me the note from Justin in Gym class asking me to Instant Message him. It seems so long ago. Corey gave me a heart warming smile with a head nod. It made me relax a bit; that I wouldn't entirely feel like a loner.
"Baby, these are the guys that I was telling you about," stated Justin.
There were four guys present and I've seen them all from Gym class. The guy to my left was staring fiercely at me. His dark brown eyes and dark chocolate skin made him look scary. His name was John. I stretched my hand out to him. Why do I have to be so formal? He showed me his pearly white teeth that made him look not so intimidating.
"Nice to meet you Delilah," he responded with an handshake.
"Babe this is Lester," Justin said as he pointed to a white male with brown freckles splattered on his face. He had seaweed green eyes that had a hint of shine and light brown hair.
"Awee Justin do you really have to introduce me? I can handle my own man," said the guy next to Lester. The rest of the guys laughed at his commentary. Seems like he is the jokester of the group. He had almond brown skin just like Justin's, dark brown eyes, and a nice well hair cut fade.
"Finally, we get to meet the famous Delilah. Justin just can't stop talking about you. I was wondering how long he was gonna stay with the ass face Ashley," he said. It made all the guys start to chuckle, except for Corey. He had a straight face the whole time looking directly at me.
"The name is Kevin. Nice to meet you beautiful," he stated with a grin. I can tell he used that choice of endearment only to make Justin upset; with the way his jaw clenched when the word came out of Kevin's mouth.
"Hop off my girl clown... So this is the crew baby. Oh yeah there's Corey but you already know him," he said as he sat on one of the steps. He tugged on my arm, telling me that he wanted me to sit as well.
"So Delilah, what do you see in Justin," asked Lester.
I was taken back by the question. Why put me on the spot like that? It seemed like every single one of them wanted to hear my answer with the way it became silent and how they were staring at me.
I decided to go with a joke instead to break the awkward silence.
"Uhhh, his good looks and charm."
I was relieved when Lester, John, Kevin, and Justin started to laugh. Corey face still had no sense of emotion. It was starting to become scary. His blue green eyes were piercing at me. It felt like he wasn't looking at me, more like looking through me. He held my gaze, but wouldn't let go. His light brown skin made his eyes pop. The rest of the guys were talking about attending a party tomorrow night that they knew for sure would be worth the hangover the next day. Their conversation were tuned out. I felt them talking, but I couldn't hear them. Corey's gaze made me forget about the world. It made feel safe. It made me feel like that he would protect me from anything that comes my way. I was taken back by this feeling. I didn't know how to react. When I first truly looked at Justin, I didn't feel this way. I didn't feel secure. Justin's gaze makes my heart smile, but Corey's gaze made me feel like I was the only girl in the world looking at him and he was looking at. I was becoming overwhelmed with this feeling, so I turned my eyes away from him. I saw in the corner of my eye, him moving his jaw wanting to say something, but was stopped by the sound of the bell ringing signaling for 1st period. I was alarmed by the way Justin quickly got up and carried me in his arms bridal style. I started to scream only because it all happened so fast.
"Justin! Put me down!!"
"No baby, this is how I'm walking you to class now. Get used to it," he replied.
I didn't want all the attention to be focused on us when he walked me to class. I'll become too paranoid.
"But Justin I have to pee," I lied.
"And?! I'll walk you to the bathroom like this babe," he replied.
"But if you carry me I'll probably pee on myself," I whined.
Justin stared into my eyes. Probably checking to see if I was lying or not. Seconds past and he finally put me down. I checked the stair well and all the guys were gone except for one. Corey.
"Uhh. Corey is coming with us since him and I have the same class," stated Justin.
"Okay. No problem baby," I replied.
This is definitely a problem.
