Eddie had asked you to meet him at the barrens today. Not entirely sure why you obliged. A strong excitement was coursing through your veins. You smiled wide as you were getting ready. You were hopping on one foot as you were putting your shoes on. You were thinking of everything that might happen when you got there.
I may have forgotten to mention that you had the biggest crush on Eddie. Like, it was really, really bad.
You bolted out of the front door, imagining there was a set time for your meet up. Ignoring your parents shouting, you closed the front door and headed towards the barrens.
You were tripping over rocks from running so quickly. Sometimes you'd trip on your own feet, and sometimes it would be absolutely nothing. Like in horror movies. You ran across the bridge, looking down and seeing Eddie. A huge grin broke across your face at the sight of Eddie. He didn't see you yet, but he looked so nervous. He was pacing back and forth looking at his feet. He was fiddling with the hem of his shirt, a white flower in the other hand. He usually wasn't this considerate.
You ran across the bridge, and down the hill towards him. Your footsteps echoed loudly in the empty space. He whirled around with a start, hearing footsteps, but not seeing you. He heard leaves rustling, still not seeing anyone. He jumped backward slightly, preparing to run until he saw you and instantly relaxed.
You approached him, happiness in your step. "Hey, Eddie!" He widely smiled. "Hey! I umm..." You have him a confused look. "You alright?" He nodded. "I brought this for you." He held out the white flower, shyly looking away. You take the flower, delicately holding it between your index finger and thumb. It was beautiful.
Which is exactly what he thought you were.
"Where'd you get this? I thought you had allergies." Curiosity was in your voice. "I did too, but sometimes I'll walk right past flowers and nothing happens. So, I went to the shop and I got one for you." "That's amazing!" you exclaimed while practically jumping up and down.
You gave him a huge hug, a big smile on your face. His cheeks turned pink, with him smiling widely. He pulled back and looked at you, a hand on your waist. He didn't see what he saw earlier. Your eyes were so bright and happy, yet sad. You smiled, but it was genuine, yet forced.
He wanted to make you happy. But he wasn't sure if he should do what he was thinking of doing. He quickly leaned forward and kissed you. It lasted for about 5 seconds. When he pulled away from you his heart nearly broke. Your eyes were glossy, filled with tears. Your vision was so blurred, you couldn't see him anymore.
He started to leave but you grabbed his cast, keeping him from leaving. You quickly wiped your eyes on your sleeve, clearing your vision. Taking a deep breath and slowly exhaling, you grabbed the front of his shirt and kissed him on the cheek. He gave a small shout as you pulled him forward.
When you pulled away, he looked at you again. He didn't see that sadness anymore. You both couldn't help but smile at each other. You laced your hand with him, still smiling. Then you both went to the parlor and gouged yourself on sweets.
