For my girl Alex 6YearsTilSanityIt was Alex's birthday today and Mike felt like he should do something nice for her. They'd been friends for what felt like forever anyways.
He decided to throw a surprise party for her.
Just the two of them.He rode his bike over to her house and walked up to the front door with a peice of black cloth in his hand.
Hiding it behind his back with one hand he knocked on the door and waited.
About thirty seconds later her mother answered the door. As soon as she saw him she shouted for Alex saying her friend was outside.
After a few minutes Alex rushed outside with a smile.
Mike smiled back as she closed the front door behind her."So, what's up?"
He tucked the peice of cloth into his back pocket.
"Wanna go to my house?"
She furrowed her eyebrows and turned her head a little.
She knew his mom didn't really approve of having friends over at his house. Instantly knowing what she was thinking, he put his hands up almost as if in surrender."Yeah, I know I can't have friends over. But, nobody's home. So, you can stay for a little while."
She thought about this for a while. Rules usually went along the lines of she can't stay with someone unless an adult is present in the house or area.
But, seeing as her parents didn't know about this, she didn't see anything wrong with it."Sure. Why not?"
-------
The second she'd gotten off the bike from riding double with him, he quickly stuck the blindfold over her eyes and started laughing as she panicked.
"It's fine, you're not getting kidnapped."
She was still kind of skeptical and shuffled around a bit. Not long after she started ranting about random stuff about how much he was scaring her.
Little did she know was that he was leading her to the barn where her surprise was waiting.
He let go of her shoulders and unlatched the doors and creaked them open which scared the near bejesus out of her."Okay, you can look now," he said taking the blindfold off.
"Oh, my lord that's bright," she mumbled with her eyes squeezed shut.
Rubbing her eyes for a few seconds she finally adjusted to the light streaming in from the windows where you could easily see all the dust and dirt floating around.
All the animals were in their stables and in the middle was a small table with one chair on either side. In the table was a wooden box.
She smiled widely.
"Is that for me?" She scoffed."Yeah, go ahead and open it."
Stepping through the stray groups of straw on the floor she made her way towards the table.Giving the box a small poke she found it wasn't a type of box that you opened, it was a box that was lifted.
Putting her hands on both sides of the box she lifted it carefully thinking there would be a snake in it or something. Mike was trying not laugh from behind.Lifting the box and peering underneath carefully, she found it was absolutely nothing dangerous. It was a simple cake with light white frosting and simple decor around the edges.
Walking behind her he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"We can share the cake if you want to."
She wanted the cake for herself, but he did make for her after all.
The rest of the afternoon definitely consisted of eating the cake, observing and petting the animals around the barn, and laughing at random stuff.
It was the best afternoon she'd had in a long time.Happy birthday to my girl, Alex. Hope it's a good one.❤
