Esme didn't know what was happening. She hadn't the faintest idea. Selvig seemed to have somewhat of an inkling if his awed 'I don't believe it' was anything to go by.

"Who are they?" Darcy asked from beside her.

"Lady Sif and the Warriors Three," the largest of the four newcomers announced, "Surely you've heard the tales of Hogun the Grim, Fandral the Dashing, and I, Volstagg the Svelte?"

Esme eyed them warily as Volstagg paused, they were certainly dressed like the Norse gods that they said they were, but- "Well, perhaps I've put on a little bit more muscle since I was here last."

"That would have been a thousand years ago? Northern Europe?" Esme looked over at Jane in disbelief, were all of these people willing to believe that Norse gods were real?

"Exactly!" another of them exclaimed, looking to be the more joyful of the two men remaining, leading the agent to believe that this was probably Fandral, "Those lovely herring people. They worshiped us!"

"Herring people," Esme deadpanned, looking at them with pure disbelief coloring her face, "You mean the Norse?"

"Oh I do not remember what they called themselves, it was so long ago," the blond continued, "I remember that they had many a delicious herring though."

Okay, that wasn't helping their case for not getting shot. She really didn't trust these people.

Thor clapped a hand on Volstagg's shoulder, "My friends, I've never been happier to see anyone. But you should not have come."

Before he could continue, Fandral interrupted, "We are here to take you home."

"You know I can't. My father is dead because of me-" wonderful "-I must remain in exile."

"Thor..." Sif spoke for the first time of the entire conversation, "Your father still lives."

The entire room went silent as Thor processed the news. It stayed that way until Beyonce's single ladies started blasting out of Esme's phone.

"Dammit, Clint," Esme grumbled, picking up the call and excusing herself outside, "Sorry, I've got to get this, work's calling."

"SHIELD's ringtone is Single Ladies?" Darcy asked with a giggle.

"Nope, that's just a coworker of mine messing with my phone," the brunette replied with a brief grin.

Outside the trailer, she brought the phone up to her ear, "Agent Taylor speaking."

"Hey, Colors. We found this rune type thing not to far out of the city, Coulson wants to know if blondie knows any- in- out- t-"

"Barton?" Esme quickly looked out onto the horizon, only to see a giant storm cloud swirling down not too far away.

She shoved her head back inside the trailer, "Were you guys expecting anyone else?"

"No," Sif replied easily.

"Then what is that?!"

I was halfway asleep when I remembered I had to post this. Have a great day and I'll see you all again on Friday with chapter seventeen.
