Esme and Clint joined up with Coulson and the rest of the SHIELD agents as soon as they landed the quinjet just outside the town, "Donald... I don't think you've been completely honest with me," Coulson was saying.

"I am Thor, of Asgard," the large blond told them, this time without any doubters.

Esme gave him a nod of respect and took her place between beside Coulson, "What do you want me to do, Coulson?"

"Just your job," the senior agent replied as if they were in no danger at all, though the sentence itself suggested that she should be cautious.

The brunette gave a sharp nod, and as Coulson lead the Asgardians out into the desert, she fell behind so that she was in step with Darcy, who was animatedly talking to Volstagg, "So, how can you speak our language?"

Volstagg broke into thick laughter, "Your language? Ha! Silly girl, you're speaking ours."

The two soulmates exchanged a dubious look, though Darcy's soon melted into a happy expression once more. It was a nice look for her, it made her seem even more beautiful than she already was, and Esme figured that her tendency to be happy was one of her most endearing traits.

"Heimdall!" Esme's head swiveled so that she could look at Thor, who was shouting at the sky, "Open the Bifrost!"

Nothing happened. Thor looked back at them with concern,

"He would open it if he could. I fear the worst."

"Then we are trapped here forever," Volstagg replied.

"Then I suppose we'd best start settling into our new lives," Fandral turned a charming smile to Darcy, "Are all earth maidens as fair as you?"

Esme frowned while her soulmate blushed, but, it soon turned around when Darcy spoke up, "No. But I am taken by this fair maiden."

The brunette laughed at the abashed look on the Asgardian's face, "Better luck next time," she said before leaning over to kiss Darcy's cheek.

"Heimdall!" Thor called to the sky again, causing all of them to looks as well, hoping for a reaction that by any common sense wouldn't come.

Then again, the last two days had thrown all common sense out the window.

"Primitive. Good enough for hunting small game, I suppose," Esme looked over in surprise to see Volstagg eyeing up an agent's machine gun.

She rolled her eyes, "On Earth, that's strong enough to hunt even the biggest of-"

A boom sounded and the brunette's voice cut off as a giant rainbow slammed down onto the ground. Thor grinned, but the sniper was too busy staring at the blinding Bifrost to completely notice.

Esme did notice however, when Fandral turned to Darcy again with a sorrowful expression, "Sorry, my love. These things happen. I hope you will be happy with your... maiden."

The Asgardians gathered in front of the Bifrost, Thor only pausing to turn to Coulson, "Know this, son of Coul. You and I, we fight for the same cause- the protection of this world. From this day forward, count me as your ally... If you return the items you have stolen from Jane Foster."

"Not stollen. Borrowed," Esme interjected, quickly being shot a look from both a disapproving Darcy and an annoyed Jane.

"You'll get your equipment back. You're going to need it to continue your research... which, after today's events, SHIELD would like to fully sponsor. If that's alright with you," Coulson told Jane.

The scientist quickly nodded, and Thor pressed a kiss to her hand, "Whatever fate lies before me, you are part of it," then he started kissing her passionately.

Esme quickly averted her gaze, only looking back when a splashing sound occured, she caught only a glimpse of them as the Asgardians disappeared into the Bifrost, soon taking the rainbow light with them.

All of the SHIELD agents stayed behind for a few moments before starting to leave, Darcy, Jane, and Selvig soon following. But, they all turned back when thunder sounded through the air. Esme gaped at what seemed to be rainbow lightning streaking through black clouds which had a large hole in the middle.

"What's that?" Darcy asked, eyes wide as Esme's own.

"Jane?" Selvig passed the question onto the scientist.

"Something's wrong."

"No kidding," Esme muttered.

Then, very abruptly, it stopped, the energy exploding like fireworks across the sky. It was beautiful. It was-

"It's gone," Jane murmured, crestfallen.

Esme didn't know how to reply.

I finished this book yesterday! Yay! Almost a year in the making, Colors is finished. And, I'm only somewhat sad to say, will not be getting a sequel. About half way into this I started having a lot of writers block surrounding this book, and doubted if I would even finish it. It is for this reason that I won't be continuing this in a version of Thor: The Dark World (make no mistake, Esme was definitely there as you will see in the epilogue). Over the next few days, I'll be posting the ending chapters to this, then a few weeks later, may end up posting another fic, right now, it's between one for Guardians of the Galaxy (which only has four complete chapters) and a Disney's Descendants fic (which has 27 chapters so far). Also, Esme will show up in other books, particularly in the next few chapters of Sokovia (*spoilers* she and Darcy will be at the party that Ultron ends up crashing, because if Sam is there, they definitely will be). So, while it may be the end of Colors, Esme's story isn't over, as she will still be a reoccurring character in my MCU Soulmate-Verse. As always, I hope you all have a fantastic day and I'll see you all again with the next chapter. :)
