When Ester Celeste finally used that coupon for free dance lessons with the famous Sierra Stone, she did not expect it to be the start of a new life.
Whilst she did want to try out new things and accept new challenges in 2018, Ester wasn't quite so...
Devon's chest hurt when he closed the front door. He couldn't even feel his red cheek as he turned to lean against the front door and slide down, suddenly unable to stand.
"Devon." He heard, but the sound of his best friend's voice was too far away. All he could think of was her face and the horrible things he said. He clenched his fists and hit the tiled floor multiple times until Mason jumped in.
"Stop it, you're going to hurt yourself." He heard, still so far away. But Mason managed to take a hold of Devon's hands as he crouched down to meet his eyes.
"Devon, you had to do it. You said so. Earlier than planned, but-"
"And way more messy. And way more untrue and mean and-" "But you had to." Mason reminded him.
"But not like this! You didn't see her face!" Devon stood up, almost sending Mason across the room. He heard his best friend shout after him, but Devon kept running into his bedroom and locked the door before growling and starting to trash his room.
Mason could only listen and hope Devon wouldn't hurt himself. He had no idea his best friend was already this deep in. Mason knew Devon had to love her at this point. It was always hard hurting someone you care for, but this reaction was more than just for someone Devon cared for.
Mason shook his head and went back into the kitchen. They put the second envelope Devon received a day after he got the first one, on the kitchen island. Mason picked it up again and read its content for the nth time that night.
"I bet this picture would look lovely on your sister's nightstand. Another one of her friends, Devon? Pitiful." He read out loud again and almost ripped it apart.
Whoever was doing this to his best friend and Ester was going to pay for it.
For everything. . . .
A day after and for the rest of the following week, Sierra once again stood in her dance studio without the sight of Devon. Or the sight of Ester.
Her mother had already pressured her into telling the two and now Sierra saw no other choice than to actually tell the two separately. She was on her way to Devon's place when her phone binged.
She stopped at a red light and looked at the message she just received. A smile grazed her lips and a plan came to her mind when she read her mom's words.
Apparently Alejandro's mom is allergic to coconut. So no coconut cream cake for us. We will come together tomorrow at the bride's saloon for a quick cake testing. Bring Ester, Devon's coming too.
