Abbey’s P.O.V

Michael picked Ariella and I up from school and drove us back to our place. Ariella ran and got changed before running over to Luke’s house; she said she was going to the movies with Luke and Calum.

I ran into my room and got changed as fast as I could, trying to wear something presentable as I would be meeting Michael’s mum.

“How’s this?” I asked

“That’s fine, now get a jumper,” He said, I went through my closet and picked out a light blue oversized one that had ‘#Mabbey’ printed on it, a fan sent one in, along with a matching one for Michael; and there were ‘#Lariella’ ones for Luke and Ariella too.

“Are you going to wear that?” he asked

“Yes, I thought it was cute,”

“Okay, let’s go,”

He took my hand and we started walking out to his car. He had clearly picked up my bag from my room earlier today. We got in the car and he started driving; he put on the radio as we drove.

Ariella’s P.O.V

“I thought we were going to the movies!” I said as Luke drove the wrong way

“Well, we aren’t. We are going somewhere else,” Luke said. I looked over at Calum and he did the ‘I’m zipping my lips closed’ thing.

A few minutes passed and we drove into the driveway of a huge open building.

“Go karting?” I said as we got out the car and walked over to the till.

“Yes,” Calum and Luke both said.

We got tickets to go in, there were some people taking photos but we tried to ignore them as much as we could. We were told about helmets, the rules and the controls. We each got into a go kart and started, racing each other. I was obviously in last place but they each let me pass them at different points… before they over took me again. When our time was up we got out and got back in the car.

“What now?” I asked

“Now, we are going to the movies,” Calum said as Luke drove the way.

~One hour later

Abbey’s P.O.V

“What’s your mum’s name?” I asked knowing that we were almost there

“It’s Karen,”

“Oh,”

“Oh? Oh what?”

“Don’t worry about it, so Karen, and it’s just your mum out here?”

“Yeah, I don’t have any siblings,”

“Okay then, how far away are we?”

“We are turning onto the street now so like 30 seconds,”

I looked in the mirror and played with my pony tail before taking a deep breath. Michael stopped the car and we got out. We left the bags in the car and walked up to the door. Michael looked at me before he knocked the door. There were some footsteps and I got more anxious. Seconds later the door opened, a blonde woman who was short, but still taller than me appeared.

“Michael!” She said before pulling him in for a hug

“Mum, you can let go now,” Michael said muffled into her shoulder, she let go

“And you must be Abbey?” She said opening her arms for a hug

“Yeah, that’s me, and you’re Karen right?” I asked giving her an awkward hug

“Yeah, that’s me, come on in,” she said moving out of the doorway and allowing Michael and I to enter.

“Michael dear, why don’t you give Abbey a tour of the house?”

“Yeah, okay,”

He took my hand and walked me around the house, it wasn’t anything special, it looked like a family home. He showed me the bathroom and his room last. We went to get our bags and we put them in his room.

“Dinner!” His mum called.

We went to the dining room and sat down.

“So, Abbey, I have loads of questions for you,” Karen announced

“Okay?”

“How old are you?”

“I’m uh, 17,” I lied

She asked me about school, where I was from, why I moved to Australia, I avoided her questions about my family. After many more questions she told me things about Michael when he was a kid and I could see him getting embarrassed.

After half an hour of conversations, we helped clean up for dinner and excused ourselves to Michael’s room.

Ariella’s P.O.V

We were in the middle of a random movie that Calum picked; I didn’t even care enough to know what it was called. Calum insisted that I sit between him and Luke, so I did, however I felt a little bad when Luke and I started hugging; but Calum looked too embedded in the movie to care.
