The Assembly

*** Peeta's POV ***

I woke up today with a smile on my face. I usually didn't do that but since 2 weeks ago, I am always smiling. I guess it is because of Katniss. It has been 2 weeks since I met Katniss. I really like her. I mean really like her. She is beautiful. Her gray eyes are just perfect and her hair in two braids makes her look so cute. Oh well.......

I get out of bed and take my morning shower. I get dress in the outfit Portia chose for me today. Portia is the family stylist. She is really nice. My parents usually don't care for what I wear to school. With this I mean that they normally let me choose my outfit for school; but today we have assembly and they asked us to wear something nice for some reason I can't explain. Whatever, I go and get the breakfast Sae made. She is our personal chef. I sit down and start eating along my dad and brothers, Will and Josh. Mom is sleeping I guess which is good. I really love her but sometimes she gets so mad I get scared.

After we finish eating, we get in the car and dad drives us to school. He does this to spend more time together since he is always very busy at our family bakery. I get there and I am greeted by Finnick.

"Hi Peet!" he says. "What's up Finn?" I answer."Well, waiting for recess as always." he sighs. "Finn we haven't even started classes!" I say laughing. "So? What's your point?" he questions. "Forget it." I say not wanting to argue with Finnick.

Mrs.Twill came in with a smile and said it was time to go to this assembly. We all get to the auditorium real quick and sit down. All the school is here. From 1st grade to 6th grade. They start talking about having a Talent Show and about looking for talents.

Then Mr.Flickerman, or Caesar as he told us to call him said "Who knows the Valley Song?" A hand shut straight up and I started to wonder who the brave person was. I saw as a little girl with brown hair in two braids and olive skin got up the stage. Katniss. She started singing and everyone became silent. Her voice is beautiful and pure like angelic. She is so beautiful, cute, talented. Gosh! I think I just fell in love! I am only five years old! Six tomorrow! 

Katniss finished singing and after a second of silence everyone cheered for her. She bowed and went down the stage´s stairs. She sat a few sits from me. The people between us were just Madge and Annie. My friend and her friends now sit together all of the time because of the friendship Katniss and I have. 

"Annie can we switch places please? You get to be beside Finnick." I say. She thinks for a second or two and finally agrees to switch places with me. I move from my former chair, Annie does the same and we switch places very fast so neither Mrs.Twill or Mrs.Bonnie notice. 

"Hi Kat" I whisper to her. She smiles at me and says "Hi Peet." she whispers back. "You sing amazing!" I say making emphasis on amazing. She giggles. Oh her giggles and laugh are so cute! "Thank you but I am not that good." she says giving me a hug. I hug her back but pull away to say "Yes you do sing that good." She smiles again but the assembly is about to end and I will have to go to my classroom and wait until recess  to talk to her again.

"Now return to class." Principal Boggs said. "See you later Kat." I say to her with a smile. "See you Peet. Can't wait for recess." she says to me. I smile even bigger because she is excited to see me. Then, we all go to our teachers and leave. Finnick and I joke around in the way to class while Cato and Marvel just talk. 

Once we enter the class we have Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. I am actually desperate for the bell to ring and signal that recess has begun. I look at the clock. Five, four, three, two, one and finally I hear the bell. I run outside and go to the swings with Finn.

A few seconds later Katniss arrives with Annie by her side. Finnick and Annie go to play with the swings and Kat and I go to take a walk around the playground.  

"So tomorrow's your birthday right?" she says smirking. "Yeah but lets talk about your beautiful angelic voice better." I say. She blushes and I smile to myself. "Aww! Thanks but I already told you I don't sing that well." she says. "And I already told you that yes you do." I reply. "No and I am not going to admit it." she keeps saying and I get an idea. "You are going to admit it!" I say while I start tickling her. She laughs uncontrollably and I just can't help to think of how I need to keep listening to her laugh and voice. "Please...hahaha...Stop....hahaha..." she manages to say. "Not until you admit you sing beautifully." I say chuckling. "No!" she insists so I tickle her even harder. "Ok....hahaha...okay...hahaha...I...hahaha...si...ha...sing...beautifully..." she finally blurts out. I stop tickling her and she gives me glare and throws herself over me. Taking me to the ground and sitting over me. That is when she starts tickling me. I laugh really hard and she says "Time for my revenge." I can actually shake her end take her down but I could hurt her in the process and I don't want to do that so I just laugh a lot. After what I felt as an eternity she decide to stop. She gets iff of me and stands up. After that she helps me up.

"How does it feel being tackled down by a girl?" she asks giggling. "I let you do it." I say chuckling. "Yeah right." she says sarcastically. "Where were we before our tickle fight?" she says. "Talking about your angelic voice." I say. "Wrong. We were talking about tomorrow's birthday boy." she tells me smiling. "Oh really! Who is he?" I decide to play dumb. "Well, you dork!" she say. I gasp and say "What?!? Really?!?" I say and than she hits my arm playfully. "Ow!" I fake a scream in pain making her giggle. She hugs me and tells me "You are my best friend Peeta!" "You are my bestf riend too Katniss. I love you." she hugs me tighter and so do I. I think she thinks I love her in a friend way but I don't expect her to understand that I fall in love with her.Then we decide to go to play in the monkey bars for a while and the bell rings. "See you later Kat!" I say. "See you later Peet!" she says and hugs me. 

I enter my class to have Arts and Reading and go to Gym. Finally, free time arrives and I decide to play soccer outside with the boys. We play a while with some other kids from Kat's section and win by 2 goals. The bell ring and it means time to pack up and leave. I pack everything and go to the playground. Here Will or Josh calls me when our chauffeur comes to pick us up.

I see Kat in the monkey bars and start heading there but unfurtunately Josh calls me. I run to Katniss "Hello Kat! We can't play now because I have to go. Bye!" I blurt out in a rush. "Okay Peet. See you tomorrow." she says giving me a quick hug. I hug her back and run to Josh.

"Hi little bro." Josh says. "Hi Josh!" I say smiling at him. "Got a new friend I see." he says hugging me. "Yup" I say. Josh, Will and I are really close. I guess it is because they like to take care of me even though sometimes they treat me like a 2 year old. I understand it because Josh is 8 and Will is 12. "What's her name?" he questions. "Katniss Everdeen." I say smiling thinking of her. Josh's happy expression is replaced by a nervous one. "Is she the girl who sang at the assembly?" he asks. "Yes. Doesn't she sings beautifully?" I reply. "Uhm... yes!" he says sounding a bit nervous. "Why do you seem nervous?" I question confused. "Uhm... I just forgot something don't worry." he says but I don't buy it. Even though I still answer "Okay then!" and smile.

I enter our car and greet Homes our chauffeur. I have a similar conversation to the one with Josh only that this time with Will. There is something wrong her and I am going to find out what.

We arrive home and eat the lamb stew Sae made. We finish homework helping each other and then play soccer together. After about two hours dad joins us. We eat dinner and get showered and dressed on pyjamas. Dad, Will, and Josh enter my room and we make our night prayer. They all say their good nights and leave. My mom didn't came because lately she prefers to sleep than to pray which makes me quite mad and sad. I think I am losing her.

Tomorrow's my birthday and I will spend it with my best friends and family! I can't wait so I decide to sleep.
