Everything Has Changed

*** Katniss´s POV ***

(10 years later)

It is amazing to see that day by day nothing changes, but when you look back everything has changed. I am now sixteen years old and I have kept a secret friendship with Peeta Mellark. He is my best friend, even though I have been wanting to be more than that with him for a while now. Since we were six to be honest, but I still knew that we weren't ready. It is weird that it feels like it was yesterday when I met him in the old playground set. I remember talking to him when I first saw him, I remember the day he first heard me sing in the assembly, the surprise party I threw him when his birthday came, and when I discovered that I had to hate him but I wouldn´t stay away from him.

He has become my rock. I have had some troubles at school and with my parents. This is because a new girl called Cashmere thinks she owns the whole school. It is actually quite funny since she is new and has a group of only two friends and her brother. This friends of her are Brutus and Enaboria and her brother is Gloss. One day, this group tried to spread some rumors consisting of me being a slut, but Peeta stood up for me and talk the truth. This people said I had slept with Gale Hawthorne.

Gale is a senior, and he will do anything to be with me. He keeps nagging for me to be "his girl" but first of all, I am no object or item to be owned. Second of all, I love Peeta. Third of all, Gale is the one my parents are trying to pair me up with. His family is filthy rich and my mom thinks it will be good for me to have a wealthy and "sweet" boyfriend. The perfect life plan right?

There's just one problem with my mother's plan: I love Peeta. I have been in love with him for ten years now, and I feel that I am ready to be his girlfriend. I am ready to have my first kiss and to finally call him my boyfriend. I know he still loves me since he still gets that glisten in his beautiful ocean blue eyes when he's with me. Plus, we both promise to love each other forever and wait for the right time. I get many butterflies in my stomach every time I think about him. Just listening to his voice can calm me. His name makes me smile and his laugh is like the best song I have ever heard. I am glad that no one out of the families know about the feud, since if someone knew I would have never been able to be near Peeta, who is one of the biggest reasons I smile.

I turn to see my clock marks 4:30 am. It is funny how your schedule changes, when you grow up, too. I used to wake up for school at six o'clock and now I usually wake up at 5:00 am. I don't feel sleepy and I really want to see Peeta today, so I might as well get ready early.

My mom and dad still like to take us to school, but they are on business trip on London. This means I'll have to drive Prim and myself to school the whole week or let Plutarch do it. I better wake Prim in half an hour or Plutarch will have to take her there and I don't like making Plutarch do extra work. 

I take a fluffy green towel and my bath robe and head to my bathroom. I actually love to shower. I love how refreshing it can be. The water is cold because outside is pretty warm outside. While I shower I decide to sing a bit. I sing my favorite song at the moment which is Acapella by Karmin. I find the first part funny it says

Once upon a time, I met the perfect guy

He had that Colgate smile, he had that suit and tie

Mama always said get a rich boyfriend

You don’t gotta love ‘em, girl, you can pretend

You better totes believed her, yeah, every word she said

Thought he was gluten-free, but all that I got was bread
