benny/nina and usnavi/vanessa

"benny did you set the table?" his wife nina yelled from their bedroom.

"yes dear!" he responded.

she walked into the living room and picked up their daughter claudia's toys off the floor before walking into the kitchen where the two-year-old was in her high chair.

"they will be here soon," she informed him.

just as they finished setting the table the doorbell rang and nina went to answer it. the door opened to reveal usnavi's family.

"¡hola!" they all greeted.

"nina! i'm on time!" usnavi exclaimed, proud of himself.

"that's because we live right under them genius," vanessa rolled her eyes playfully.

five-year-old sebastian and his two-year-old sister isabel toddled over to claudia's high chair.

"mamí," she screamed.

"i'm coming mija!" nina replied walking over to her daughter and taking her out.

the kids them all made their way into the living room to play in the floor. the adults sat on the couches and talked.

"is sebastian excited for kindergarten? it feels like just yesterday he was born," nina asked.

"yeah he's talking about it non-stop," usnavi replied.

vanessa smiled, "it's so cute! when he gets really happy he speaks a rapid mix of spanish and english."

"how's the new salon vanessa?" benny inquired.

"it's great! being in a nicer part of town is bringing in tons of new costumers," she answered. "how's the dispatch?"

"it's good! i like running it myself."

"and how's teaching going for you nina?" usnavi said. "from the way you used to help us in high school i always knew you would be a great teacher."

"amazing! i love inspiring our next generation. you holding up the bodega?" nina asked and he nodded. "enough talk- tengo hambre. how about we go eat?"

the adults picked up their respective kids at took their seats at the table.

"¡comida!" the sebastian chanted.

and they enjoyed their joint family meal together.
