Flashbacks can be such a pain in the ass sometimes. I very much remember I lived through this moment, and it had already hurt me at the time. Why did my mind think it would be a good idea to send me this memory again, to put me through this feeling once more, to be reminded of how it exactly felt? Ever since I broke up with Edward his memory haunts me every now and then, our little incidents and his little sweet words, how we first met. How he asked me out. How he became my first love. First serious boyfriend. First fiancé? And well,, first heartbreak.

Anxiety gives me bad flashbacks. Edward has been my worst flashback so far. First day back as a pilot gave me anxiety. Anxiety gave me Edward flashbacks. Joy.

Regardless, I am a strong very much independent working woman. I got up, packed my essentials then headed to the airport. At the gate I checked in as: Captain Destiny Hobz of the Sky Airline. Ear-gasm.

I entered our airline's area but I found no one in the changing rooms, I was a bit early perhaps. I changed my clothes then headed to grab a coffee. I was standing by the cafeteria's entrance when I noticed that Kayl was there, sitting by one of the tables talking on the phone. My curiosity almost convinced me to eavesdrop, but I decided not to. I headed to make my coffee and heard him saying "Fine, but just promise me to take good care of her and I'll send you the money today."

I pretended I wasn't paying attention and casually took my coffee and asked "Would you mind if I joined you?" I couldn't read his face "Have a seat." He murmured without looking up to me. For the first time since I first met him he's actually not so mean. He gave off a different vibe, a new vibe. This man is a handful.

"Hey is everything okay?" I asked quietly but he didn't react, he kinda seemed blacked out so I repeated "Kayl,, what's wrong?"

"What?" He shook his head.

"Nothing was just wondering if everything's okay." I stated.

"Yeah." He said getting up and walking towards the exist.

2 hours passed as quick as 2 minutes and my come-back flight was only 1 hour away. I played it cool and strictly by the book. I was always an A student. I knew the rules and I knew how to follow them, and most importantly, I knew how to look on top of things. I was trembling and nervous, if the excitement in me was turned to electricity it would very well light up a Las Vegas casino on a busy Friday night, but I seemed contained and calm. Fake it till you make it, right?

"Captain Kayl." The security guard smiled to us as we passed security check. "Captain Destiny." Why do you know my name? I thought. Why did a security guard know my name? Did they inform them of the new pilots? Odd. But I was too stressed to over think it.

A bus drove us to the plane. Kayl walked in first followed by Johnny and the girls and I was walking in the back hiding behind them like a scared kid on her first day to school.

The crew seemed so professional as they prepped the plane for the flight, everyone seemed to know what to do and they were all good at whatever they were doing. I paused and watched, and prayed. Prayed I don't end up making a fool of myself.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the Captain has turned on the Fasten Seat Belt sign getting ready for take off. This is Samantha Marcos and I'm your chief flight attendant. On behalf of Captain Kayl Harton and the entire crew, welcome aboard the Sky Airline's plane, airbus A320, flight number 3718 non-stop service from Los Angeles California to Brooklyn New York. We shall cover the distance of 2,454 miles in about 4 hours and 55 minutes as we will be flying at a ground speed of 500 miles per hour. At this time, make sure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright position and that your seat belt is correctly fastened. Also, your portable electronic devices must be set to 'airplane' mode until an announcement is made upon arrival. Thank you for choosing the Sky airline, and we wish a you pleasant flight."

Let the magic begin. Staring at how focused Kayl looked preparing for departure I told Samantha over the mic "Cabin crew prepare doors for departure."

"Everything is ready for take off."

"This is captain Kayl Harton on the air buss A320 flight number 3718 requesting permission for take off." The man in the tower replied "Permission is granted captain."

"Alright then." He looked at me "Shall we?"

"Let's go." I said.

Here we are taking off, breaking through the sky and off to the stratosphere. Once the plane was balanced in the air I turned on the autopilot mode and turned off the seat belt sign. I kept admiring the sky and the clouds throughout half of the flight, it was more than magical. I looked at Kayl who was staring at the cabin's floor and remembered Edward, he was usually the one sitting in Kayl's place. I remember our small funny talks, how he used to spend most of the flight flirting with me or telling me silly stories. Memories, ones that never made me feel how long the flight was.

"Good job captain." I told Kayl trying to break the deathly silence in the cabin.

"I don't deserve credit for doing my job. Neither do you or anyone in the crew. We're not doing this for free, remember?"

"Yeah, you know something Kayl? You can be nothing else but a pilot! Or maybe an astronaut, anything away from contact with human beings." I said.

"If it was legal for me to fly this plane alone I would have." He shook his head with too much unexplained annoyance. "That wasn't my idea of extra help."

"Seems like you are stuck with me then." I said in a low voice cuz I was too afraid the crack in my voice would show. He didn't need to know the impact his words had on me.

I can take a mean coworker. I knew life won't always be fun and games. If being a pilot means I'll be stuck with a rude man for a few hours every day, so what? I'm a big girl, I can take a mean coworker. What I can't take; however, is a mean crush. But that's for later.
