After another complicated conversation with Kayl my room seemed like the only shelter. I haven't came to a conclusion yet on why every time Kayl and I argue this fucks my mood up. And being the overthinker I am, staying alone with my mind was dangerous, instead I simply went back to sleep. I always sleep my feelings away, and so far this solution seems to be working so well. I woke up the next morning, washed my face, texted my mom a smiley face like I always do when I'm away for work, and then I prepped myself to face the dark society outside. Nicole wasn't in the room so I figured they were all in the restaurant having breakfast so I headed there. On my way there I passed by the reception and saw Cameron sitting with Nicole and so I made eye contact with Cameron.
"Morning." I smiled scratching the back of my head.
"Morning sleepy head." He stated. "I got you a coffee cuz the restaurant is closed now."
"Thanks!" I smiled taking the cup from him surprised by his thoughtful attitude. "That was really nice of you, I obviously overslept."
"Rough night?" He asked sarcastically so I rolled my eyes in return trying to save the awkwardness of explaining what had happened. "Uhm, by the way." He added so I paid him more attention. "Mr. Luiz was looking for you."
"Did he say why?" I asked mentally knowing what he wanted to talk about.
"No, I do know he was looking for both Kayl and you." He stated. And that was obviously what I needed.
I left Cameron and headed to where he told me Mr. Luiz would be. I found him, sitting along with Kayl and Lesandra obviously talking about something serious.
"Good morning." I smiled awkwardly.
"Good morning captain." Mr Luiz replied. "Please, have a seat." I sat down next to Kayl feeling like a 9 year old who was called in to the principal's office to find his mother there too.
"Is everything okay?" I asked shaking my head giving looks to both Mr. Luiz and Kayl.
"Yes everything is fine. I just have something important to talk to the two of you about." Luiz stated which made me wonder, the fuck was Lesandra doing here then? "I don't like the type of interaction between the two of you."
"Sorry?" I interrupted not liking a word he said.
"Listen to me captain." He insisted. "I have seen you two arguing multiple time before. Not to mention the rumors spreading across the airline about the two of you being involved in a romantic relationship which is absolutely unprofessional."
"Excuse me, sir!" I ranted. "I'm not involved in any romantic relationship with a colleague, captain Kayl is an amazing pilot whom I'm lucky to be working with, but we are nothing but a pilot and a copilot. None of these accusations are true."
"She's spoken the truth." Kayl agreed.
"All what dad is trying to say is." Lesandra explained. "The two of you keeping a healthy and friendly relationship is very important for the well-being of the crew."
"That, that you shouldn't worry about." Kayl reassured them. I was still mad at them for all the trash they've said so I just kept my straight face on, trying so hard not to punch them in the face. Kayl got up and left followed by Lesandra, as I was getting up to leave Mr. Luiz stopped me.
"Destiny." He said quietly. "You should know that I only had this conversation with you because I care about you. But I was just making sure that the airline's policy is clear."
"I understand." I nodded giving him a faint smile and left.
The day went on well: we took a walk around that maginfecnt city, but nothing that's worth mentioning happened until it was about 6pm when I received a text message from an private number. We were all sitting around a table in a restaurant out in the open. Kayl was on my right and Nicole was on my left. I unlocked my phone to see a picture that sent chills down my spine, it wasnt a picture of a dead body or a bloody knife. It was a picture of Kayl and I at that very same moment.
"Holy shit." I murmured putting my phone on the table with my hand covering it, a second passed and Kayl put his hand on mine. I looked towards him and our eyes met.
"I got it too." He mumbled with surprise in his eyes.
"The picture?" He nodded back. "You too? What's going on?" I started freaking out, that was a whole different level of stalking.
"I'm not sure, but I do want to get out of here." He stated getting up.
"Wait no!" I said getting up too.
"Everything okay?" Lesandra asked eyeing the two of us.
"Yes." Kayl said with an attitude as cold as ice. "We're just going to go for a walk." I followed him like a little duckling would follow her mom ignoring the looks they were giving us. He kept looking around him to find whoever did this, I was too nevous to do so. It felt like a movie and every moment that passed made me more nervous than before.
We found a bench somewhere not so far away from the restaurant and sat on it. His face was sharper than usual with signs of confusion all over it. My hands were voluntarily shaking even though I wasn't that nervous anymore, I basically didn't know what to do. Where is this taking us? Too many questions revolved around my mind and the only thing keeping me comfortable was Kayl's presence and put-together attitude.
"I should've listened to you." I broke the silence. "I should've stayed away from you like you said. I don't even know what you're involved in, did you kill someone or are you a drug dealer or a fucking hitman; I dont know. But whatever this shit is, I'm in it too and it's too late for me to leave." As I finished my sentence he scoffed back.
"You're just like all of them." He paused. "You realize it's serious then you run away, see that's what I meant by people never stay."
"Kayl." I sighed. "I didn't mean that."
"What you meant doesn't matter to me." He interrupted me.
"What do you want me to do, huh?" I asked controling my anger. "You push my away every time I try to get to know you. All you say is it's too dangerous to be said,, bla bla bla. Do you know how many times we've had this conversation before? You dont even know what you want, and hoenstly neither do I."
"I want everything to stop." He sighed resting his back on the bench. "And everything seems to stop when,,,"
"When what?" I wondered.
"When you're around." He replied. He said it and I had a hard time believing that he did.
"Wh,,, what?" I hesitated.
"We should go back to them." He suggested getting up.
"What about those weird stalkers?"
"I dont know." He spoke softly putting his hand on my shoulder leaning down so that his face was directly facing mine. "It will be okay."
"How do you know that?" I asked taking my breaths slowly feeling better.
"Have you ever been harmed becuase of me?" He asked so I shaked my head in reply. "And you won't."
"Then why do you keep telling me to leave you alone?" I asked.
"I was saving myself the bruden of losing someone again." He stated.
"And now what happened?"
"I won't." He completed. "I just won't let myself lose you."
