"Annabeth hurry!" Percy called, running to the car.
Annabeth ran outside to follow, ducking as the sky flashed when lightning hit the sea in front of their home.
As soon as she closed the door, Percy slammed the gas, leaving skid marks in their driveway. "Where can we go?" He asked.
"Camp. It's the only safe place." She answered.
"Do the others know?"
"Percy, the sea and sky are at war. I'm sure they know." Annabeth gasped as Percy swerved the car to avoid a wave that breached the bridge they drove on. "Rayna Iris messaged, everyone from camp Jupiter are coming to Half-Blood in favor of a camp with a magical border and more battle ready demigods."
"Anything from the hunters?"
"Thalia and Artemis are on Olympus trying to talk some sense into Zeus. So far it's not working. The rest of the hunters should already be at camp with the campers from Camp Jupiter."
"So it's just us then?" Percy sighed.
Annabeth nodded. "PERCY!" She screamed as lighting flashed in front of them.
Percy swerved again, this time hitting the guard rail on the bridge, flipping the car into the ocean. He drew his sword as the car filled with water, cutting both seat belts and creating an air bubble around the car. Percy opened the door and pulled Annabeth out behind him. They propelled to the surface.
"Now what?" Percy asked.
"I don't know." Annabeth answered.
"I could call Blackjack."
"No Percy. Zeus would shoot him down the minute he took off. You know that." Annabeth paused to brush her hair out of her face. "There's nothing we can do until we make it to shore."
They looked at each other hopelessly. The ocean hasn't obeyed Percy since Poseidon used it to attack his brother.
"Brother!" A booming voice reached them. "Need some help?"
"Tyson!" Percy called.
The Cyclopes reached over the side of his fishing boat, pulling them up with ease. The motor shuttered and roared, racing through the waves and around the southern tip of Florida to head up the coast.
"How did you know where to find us?" Annabeth asked, shivering under a blanket.
"I didn't. Just heading the same way." Tyson answered.
Annabeth turned to Percy. "Do you think Sally got the kids to camp?"
Percy's forehead creased with worry. "I know she did." He answered. His eyes spoke otherwise.
She leaned against him, taking advantage of his body heat. Soon she fell asleep, drained from the rush of adrenaline from earlier.
Percy stayed awake. Before she asked he was sure they were at camp with his mom. But Annabeth's doubt made his all too real.
"Hey Tyson, I can take over. Get some sleep, we should be there tomorrow." Percy took the stick controlling the boat's motor, shifting only slightly so Annabeth didn't wake.
Tyson yawned in response and thumped against the seat, laying down and preceding to snore loudly.
Percy kept the direction towards Long Island even though the waves tried to push them further out to sea. He tried to communicate with the water around him, but the only thing he manages was to call a few minnows and forget to breathe for a minute.
Percy guessed it was around midnight and he started to feel a little tired. He looked up at the moon, hoping that the gods would get over it. Just as the thought passed his mind the boats engine sputtered and slowed, finally quieting to leave them drifting in the waves.
"OH COME ON!" Percy shouted. Tyson and Annabeth jumped awake, Annabeth holding her dagger.
"What? What happened?" She asked. Her frightened face soon turned to annoyance when she realized the noise of the motor was gone.
"The motar died," he answered. "We're stranded."
