CASSIE POV
I yawn and trudge along the school hallway to my classroom. I arrive at my class to be met with my home room and English teacher Miss. King.
"Cassie! I was wondering where you were. Do you mind having a talk for a bit?" Miss. King exclaims.
Crap, did I so something wrong? What did I do wrong? I don't recall doing anything wrong? I could see Hannah at the back sniggering at me, I must look really shook right now or something.
"S-sure" I hesitate.
"You're not in trouble by the way so don't look so scared." Miss. King chuckles, I sigh in relief and chuckle with her, this is why Miss. King is my favourite teacher, she's so kind and she can handle difficult situations so easily.
I follow her outside the classroom and then she turns to face me with a grin.
"Something wrong?" I ask.
"There's a new kid joining our class and I was wondering if you could be his buddy until he fits in. Don't worry, it won't be that difficult, maybe you guys might become the best of friends or even more." Miss. King winks.
I roll my eyes and laugh. "No, I'm fine thanks," I reply jokingly. "But sure I don't mind being this new kid's buddy."
"Wonderful! The new student's name is Christian but apparently people just call him Chris, right now he's still in the principal's office being informed about the school rules, the boring stuff." Miss. King clasps her hands.
"Cool, but I just want to ask, why me? Shouldn't it be a 'teacher's pet' who's always sitting at the front and being a good kid?" I ask with a specific person in mind.
"Well the thing is, Chris is... cold and distant towards others. And if I asked Daphne, I'm sure that kid will be full of questions she would want Chris to answer and I don't think that would make Chris feel comfortable or maybe the worst case scenario he would snap at her." Miss. King explains. I nod in understanding making an 'o' shape with my mouth.
"And anyway, you're a very kind and easy-going person and I have this gut feeling that you two will get along quite well." Miss. King winks at me again and I roll my eyes in reply.
"Oh and please don't be mad or annoyed if he's harsh to you, I don't want you or him to have bad memories about this school." Miss. King adds.
"Well too late 'cause I've already gotten bad memories in this crappy school-" I pseudo cough. " I mean, no problem Miss I'm definitely loving this school." I salute as a joke and we both laugh. It's a good thing she get my sarcasm.
"Speak of the devil." I turn to where Miss. King is looking and see the new boy.
He had short, dark hair and he looks kind of like a typical tumblr boy. He has sharp, mysterious brown eyes and he has a cold gaze that could literally pierce through your soul. I wonder if he has ever smiled in his life. He has that vibe that tells you to back off and it's a bit intimidating. I admit he's quite a looker, but like how anyone would say it, it's not about the looks, it's about the personality ;).
"I'll leave you guys to it, I forgot to get something from my office." Miss. King walks off hastily to her office.
Now we're left alone, just the two of us. I barely even know this guy, what am I supposed to do and how the hell am I supposed to start a conversation, after all I'm not quite the social person myself, perhaps he might start the convo but maybe not because he is the "cold and distant" type. Or maybe we shouldn't talk at all...
BUT I'M HIS 'BUDDY' AND I'M GONNA BE STUCK WITH HIM UNTIL HE FITS IN WHICH MIGHT BE NEVER CONSIDERING HIS PERSONALITY.
Gosh dangit can someone buy me rope and teach me how to tie a noose?
