Chapter Twenty-Two | Don't be impractical

"My mother taught me to forgive, All the things and people I wanted to burn, for she knew the fire I might start, would only end up destroying me if I didn't learn."
-Noor Unnahar

My eyes opened slowly, and too my surprise, it was still dark out. But it was cold. Very cold. I pull the blanket over my body more and snuggly myself into the fluffy blanket that's being used as a makeshift mattress. I let myself fall asleep more until somebody shift below me. I sat up to see that I had been laying on Bellamy's arm. My heart fluttered and heat rose to my cheeks. I said "screw it" in my head and laid back down. Bellamy's arm curled inwards, pulling me closer to him. And really, I didn't mind.

Comfortable, I began to drift off into peaceful sleep.

"Don't you dare wake them!"

"It's grossing me out."

"How? This is the most adorable thing in the world!"

"Exactly!"

"You're impossible."

My shoulder shook back and forth, drawing me out of my sleep. I groan and roll over, shoving my face into the blanket. "Hadley... Hadley wake up. You spent all night outside." A voice I recognized as Lyra told me. I heard a grunt of pain from beside me. "Bellamy you too! Wake up!" I peeped my eye open that was closest to the person beside me.

He slowly sat up and rubbed his eyes with his fists. Now that he was up I used it to my advantage and pulled all the blanket over my. "No! Hadley, No! Wake up! It's already twelve." Max lectured. I internally rolled my eyes. Twelve? That's early.

The blanket was pulled off of me and I was exposed. Max let out a scream. "Oh my god! Your makeup!" I laughed and waved my hand at him. Lyra tossed me a package of makeup wipes from her purse. I looked at her quizzically but she just shrugged. I let it go and wiped off the makeup off my eyes and lips.

"I'm surprised you didn't freeze to death." Max said which caused laughter from all of us. "I'm serious! It's the cold fronts! They're swooping in!" Lyra snickered at his statement and grabbed my shoes and Bellamy's coat. She threw our items at us and I had to duck just so I didn't get impaled by the heel.

"Oops." She said innocently. I narrowed my eyes at her jokingly and started strapping in my shoes. "So... are you guys dating now?" Her statement made all of us go silent. Lyra caught on and grabbed Max's arm—who was wiggling his eyebrows at Bellamy—and ran out of here.

I chewed on my lip and flattened out my hair with the palms of my hands. "I forgive you. I don't think we talked about that last night. Everything but that I think." I paused. I tried to find the right things to say. To try and fix things. "I—ugh. I honestly don't know what to say right now I'm this situation, I'm sorry." I filed my legs so I sat crisscross applesauce. I looked at him and he frowned at the blanket.

I took a deep breath, debating with myself wither my next actions were sensible or just total madness. I've decided... total madness.

I grabbed his face in my hands and turned him to face me. I swallowed hesitantly. With my thumbs I moved the corners of his lips upwards so he was smiling. He smiled for real without me having to force him. And before I realized, he had bent down and kissed me.

I shut my eyes and smiled into the kiss. After a very more seconds he put his head on my shoulder and he hugged me tightly. "I'm sos sorry, Hadley. I don't think you know how much I've missed you." I then realized that I am insane.

"I've missed you too." I told him truthfully.

"Yes! My ship is sailing again!" Lyra yelled from far away. We pulled away from one another and I was quick to get up. "Our plan worked Bellamy!" She cheered and I spun around and looked at him with raised brows. He winked at me. "We have to stop going now though, Hads." I nodded and waved to max and Bellamy. Lyra and I exited the building and went back to the car.
