Chapter Thirteen | Ouch
"Am I in love with you? Or am I in love with the feeling?"

My eyes sprung open at the sound of a door sliding open. The white walls surrounded me and the beeping sounds of the monitors bounced off said walls. My mom stood in the door way with a tray of food in her hand. I sat up but instantly regretted it as a shock of pain ran from my legs to my spine.

I squeezed my eyes shut as quickly as I had opened them. "Be careful, sweetheart!" My mom rushed to my side and placed the metal tray at the foot of my bed. She looked down at my body that was wrapped in a textured blanket. She frowned as her eyes looked at me from head to toe. I felt self-conscious under her gaze. "...You should have called me." She said and took a seat on the hair that had been pulled up beside my bed.

"I didn't want to be a burden. You and your guy friend were hanging out." I said while emphasizing 'guy friend'. She rose a brow at me

She pinched the bridge of her nose. "Alright," She started. "Well, you are hurt pretty badly. You'll be okay but they want you to stay here overnight, which is okay because it's late anyway and to be completely honest, I didn't feel like driving." I smiled and looked at my fingernails. My nails that were once long and painted a light blue are now cracked and chipped. How excellent.

I sighed and picked at the unevenness of my ring finger's nail. "So how long do I have to stay in the casts." I said and sank into the pillow.

"Wheelchair. You will be using a wheelchair. You'll be in it for a few weeks." I groaned and put my hands on my face. "Hey, this is your fault. You weren't paying attention." I turned on my side and mimicked her silently but I knew she knew. She wiggled onto the space that was left on the bed and poked me on my shoulder. "Are you mocking me?"

"Pft. Of course not. For I am a holy child, mother." I laid on my back and her arm rested above my head.

"You better not have!" She warned jokingly. "Anyways, I have to go pick up Malik alright? I'll be back. Don't do anything stupid. Eat your food. Love you!" She was already up and putting her bag on her shoulder. She kissed me on the forehead and left while I waved goodbye. No way was I eating that food. Hospital food? Yuck.

I couldn't do anything even if I wanted to. Right now, I'm basically a statue. I get noticed and all but I don't get to leave this one spot. I scanned the room and found a wheel chair behind the chair. I rubbed my hands together and pushed myself up gently. I then put my hand on one side and turned my body to face that side-left- and did some kind of crawl type thing towards the chair.

I was half on the chair and half on the bed when Bellamy walked in. He was stuffing his face with a sandwich. I'm assuming it's tuna... Yuck. "Hi, Bellamy." I said simply. This may seem odd. I mean, my position at the moment may seem odd.

"it looks like my stubborn little gum drop has awoken." I rose a brow at him.

"Gum drop? Really?" I scoff.

He shrugged and grabbed the wheelchair, pulled it up next to the bed and sat down on it. My jaw fell open in shock and betrayal. "Yeah. Gum drop. I don't like gum drops." His nose crinkled as he spoke. Not the way I did when I was uncomfortable but in disgust.

I glared at him and he nudged me playfully. He meant it to be softer I'm assuming but I nearly toppled over from the force. I don't have much upper body strength. Or any type of strength if I'm being completely honest.

"I'm just kidding, Hadley." He said with a smug smile.

"You stole my seat, Butthole." He looked down and laughed.

"Ah. That's why you are in that weird position. I was wondering," As he spoke my arms began to shake and I knew I'd fall over soon. It's only a matter of time. I'm surprised that I stayed up this long anyway. What sucks though is that if I fall, I will most likely fall on my face. " 'What the heck is Hadley doing?' It isn't something you see every day. I guess I should've assumed that it was the wheel chair-"

"Bellamy!" I shouted. He stopped talking and smirked. I rose my brows at him. He knew that I would've fallen on my face. That jerk. He sighed dramatically but got up. He gestured towards the chair. I looked at the chair, then to the wheelchair, then to Bellamy.

He lifted me up carefully and gently placed me down on the wheelchair. "Jeez," He said and whipped away an imaginary sweat drop. "You are lucky I like you so much." I blushed but glared at him.

"You know, I'm at the perfect height to punch you in the gut." I threatened. I would never punch anybody.

"You wouldn't"

"And why not?" I rose an eyebrow.

"You're a pacifist." He bent down to my level with his hands on his knees. His perfect face was in front of mine. His hot breath tickled my cheeks. I wouldn't let it affect me though because I had a point to make. That I would-in certain circumstances- punch somebody.

I took a deep breath and held it in for a little while before releasing it. "Fine. You were right. I wouldn't punch you or anyone for that matter." He gave a mocking smile. A smile that says 'Haha! I was right, Idiot.' I pressed my lips into a fine line and sat back in the chair.

"Of course I was right!" He cheered. I rolled my eyes and placed my head in my palm. "Oh what, Is my success too much for you to handle? Is my greatness just too great for you? Am I too much?" He asked. His voice rose as he spoke but in a playful kind of way.

"Shut up! The only thing that is too much is how annoying you are!" I exasperated. He laughed and winked at me. In the silence, my eyes grew heavy and I felt myself grow sleepy.

"Hadley," Bellamy whispered and I slowly opened my eyes again. He was closer now and now that I had no point to prove, it intimidated me. "Want me to put you back into the bed? It's really late. You should go to sleep." I nodded and lifted my arms like a child would. He lifted me up and put me down onto the bed and pulled the blanket over my feet.

I clump a little bit of fabric in my hands and brought it up to my face.I head Bellamy take a seat in the same seat he was in before. I turned around and moved over a little. "You can come up here if you want. Based on your expression you look like you couple use a nap." I smiled and rose my eyebrows a little.

He stared at me for a little then got up and laid on the bed with me. He lay facing up while I faced him on my side. I release the fabric and pull Bellamy closer to me by his waist. He wrapped his arm behind my head and rested his hand on my shoulder. My head was on his chest and I fell asleep to the sound of his breaths. Sounds creepy I know.
