Chapter eighteen | Rozes
"Smiles are free but are worth a lot"

I jab at my pasta while my mom goes on and on about how she used a different spice in the sauce. "... I think it really made a difference though. I'll keep putting it in the sauce." She declared and David reached over to grab her shoulder in a comfortable way.

My mom seemed to blush which was strange. "It's delicious, love. Isn't it guys?" David asked Oliver and I. This is the second dinner we have had together in the past week. I nodded and ate a noodle. Oliver judges me sharply under the table. I hiss and glare at him.

He nods towards my mom. I told my eyes at him. "He's right, mom. It is really good." I reassured her and she smiled warmly at me. I continued eating my food and paid no mind to what else was said during dinner.

Once dinner was finished I helped my mom clean up while David and Oliver went and picked out a movie for all of us to watch together. "I have to tell you something, sweetie." My mom said while giving her dry hands one more wipe with the dish rag. I put the last dish on the dish rack and turned to her and waited for her to speak up. "So... You know David and I one another," I nodded slowly, not understanding where this would be going. She swallowed hard. "I'm thinking he could move in with us..." She didn't say anything but looked at me with pleading eyes.

"Where would they sleep?" She seemed surprised at my statement but answered nonetheless.

"Well David would be with me and Oliver would take Tai's room-." She knew the moment those words left her mouth that I would not be happy.

I scrunched my eyebrows together. "What? But where will Tai go when he comes back?" I whisper shouted because I knew Oliver and David were just in the next room over.

My mom pinched the bridge of her nose. "Hadley, Tai is going to be staying in California. He will be living with Eliza until he earns enough Koenig to rent an apartment. He's graduating this year-." I dragged my hands down my face, stress overwhelming me in just the matter of a few minutes.

"I got it. Okay. That'd be great if David and Oliver move in." I lied straight through my teeth. I have nothing against David. I have everything against his son. But I want my mom to be happy. More happy than I have been the past few days at least. I kissed her cheek and she ran a hand through my hair then I went upstairs to grab my phone and change into pajamas. I just threw on a plain string tank top and Star Wars sweatpants. There was a knock on my door. I opened it to reveal Oliver standing with his hands hon his hips.

I rose my brow as he walked into my room without me even giving him permission. "You have a nice room." He said and say on the bed. I didn't move from my spot and crossed my arms across my chest.

He started to pull the sheets over himself... with his shoes on! "What do you want, Oliver?" He opened one eye to look at me.

He closed his eyes again and didn't get up. "Well all I want now is to take a nap." I rolled my eyes even though I knew he couldn't see me.

I wasn't sure if I should kick him out though. "You—You can't stay here Oliver." I rolled onto his other side and didn't pay any mind to what I was saying. I hugged and grabbed a stuffed bear that was tossed onto the floor and chucked it right at him. He finally sat up and rubbed his eyes.

"Why can't you just be nice and let me sleep." I didn't answer him.

I wanted to say you can't stay here because you took away something from me that was supposed to be a spectacular moment. But no. You kissed me without my permission, without me even knowing.

He rolled his eyes just like I had not to long ago and jumped out of the bed. He nudged me and went back downstairs. I went to my desk and pulled out a note pad and a pencil. I wrote "he's gone now" on the paper and ripped it out. I went to the window and pressed it up against the glass.

I noticed him watching furiously. He could see Oliver in my bed. Bellamy gave a sad smile then did exactly what I had done a few days ago; shut the blinds. I slowly let the paper drop to the floor then went downstairs to watch the movie.

-
The next morning I was in no rush and left a solid three minutes later than I should have—living on the edge. Malik got a ride from his friend before so I was on my own today.

I trudged along the street in my yellow rain coat as the light drops of rain feel from the sky. It's been raining a lot lately. I swayed left in right, dancing solo in the rain. Living the life.

I spun around a few times and didn't care about the looks from the drivers going by. It was nice out. "This truly a sight to behold." I stopped moving and turned around. Was it Pennywise??

I was expecting a clown but got Bellamy instead. "Oh thank god." I took a deep breath. Bellamy smile widely. "I thought you would be Pennywise." I laughed and his smile fell.

I started walking and Bellamy walked beside me. "I don't have my car today, in case you didn't notice. Also, it's raining. Isn't it nice? Isn't it weird how I'm asking all these questions and saying these random things in Hopes of having a conversation with you?" He spoke extremely quickly.

"What?" I asked. He ran his hand across his face.

"Yeah." He replied.

"No wait, I didn't hear what you said. I couldn't understand you. What did you say?" He looked down at me with a disappointed look.

He looked forward again and started walking a little faster a head of me. "Nevermind." His voice was in monotone. It was unusual for Bellamy. Well now I wanted to know. I ran up to him and grabbed ahold of his arm and pulled him back.

I let go and he stopped walking. He didn't look at me, he looked above me. "What did you say?" He shook his head at my question. He pinched the bridge of his nose and didn't answer. "Bellamy?" I asked him. I creased my brows and decided to let it go. "Actually, forget I asked." I nodded and pulled out my phone that was already connected to the earbuds. I plugged them in and put my playlist on shuffle.

He didn't say anything, no. But with the corner of my eye I could see him cross the street with his hands shoved in his jean pockets. I tried my hardest to ignore it but I couldn't. I don't know how we managed to ignore each other before for all those years. I suppose our paths never really crossed like they did. Still, I feel like if we had met long ago, I would still feel the same towards him.But that doesn't matter anymore. What's done is done, it's for the best.
