*Prologue*

Ava smiled as she walked into the room where her baby shower was being thrown by Dionne, Anquan Boldin’s wife.

“This is simple yet elegant, thanks, D.”

“You’re welcome, where’s Colin.”

The women shared a look and then laughed. Colin was outside with the guys because baby showers were really not their thing.

“Where the food at though?”

“Fattie.”

“Hey I have an excuse thank you very much.”

Dionne laughed at her before taking her to sit down when Colin walked in with a bunch of his teammates.

“How’s my little man?”

The baby kicked and Ava shifted in her seat trying to get comfy.

“Knock it off  Kap, his kicks hurt majority of the time and he’s making my bladder weak.”

Ava had found out she was pregnant a week after they had gotten back from her honeymoon and she was over the moon, but she wished that she would’ve had more time with her husband. But her unborn child was a blessing nonetheless.

“Ok, I’ll stop.”

The baby heard Colin’s voice and kicked his mother again making scream out in pain. Luckily no one was paying attention to her or Colin. Once all the guests arrived Dionne started the party. When Ava saw the food trays, her eyes lit up. She was fat and needed food to keep her happy. Colin was all for her energy being elsewhere, as long as he could breathe and not worry about Ava ripping his clothes off or crying every other minute he was just fine.

“Are you ready to give a name or do you wanna keep us guessing,” Dionne asked.

“Do I have to stand up?”

“No, lazy.”

“Ok, give me the mic.”

Dionne laughed at her friend and complied.

“Excuse me everybody, I’m pretty sure by now you’ve figured out what we’re having since the lovely Mrs. Boldin decorated the room in blue, yes people it’s a boy and his name is Carson Rand.”

All the guys in the room started cheering and laughing.

“And he’s gonna play football just like his daddy,” some female responded.

“Only if he wants too,” Colin smiled.

Ava rolled her eyes.

“I’m ready to go home, I’m tired.”

Colin nodded his head and asked for help loading all of the gifts into the car. By the time he had gotten the last of  the gifts in the truck, Ava was fast asleep.

“Colin my water just broke.”

He shot up and grabbed the bags by the door that they had packed four days ago. Colin had worried that she had overdone it at the baby shower earlier, which had probably resulted in her getting so tired.

“I’ll  call everyone once we get there.”

She nodded her head as she focused on remaining calm. Colin helped her in the car and sped off to the hospital.

Eight hours of labor later and Ava was  holding her baby boy. He looked exactly like his father and everyone had fallen in love with the baby.

“Say hi to your baby cousin Zekie.”

He babbled on about something and Ava smiled. Colin knew she was tired, even if she didn’t say anything.

“Alright you guys mommy needs some rest, come over tomorrow.”

The family agreed and bid their farewells and headed home as Colin settled into his makeshift bed in the corner. He wasn’t leaving this hospital until his wife and son were with him.

*Six Months Later*

Ava woke up to another night without being wrapped up in her husband’s arms. Carson started crying and she got up sighing heading to his room. Colin had finally won the Super Bowl and Ava had been proud of him, minus the fact that he was gone most of the time. She knew that she couldn’t put all the blame on Colin because that wouldn’t be fair, since they both had very demanding careers. Ava had decided to open up her boutique in order to be a stay at home mom, but still have her own. Ava didn’t hear Carson crying anymore and she grew worried until she pushed open his door and saw Colin feeding him.

“I didn’t want him to wake you, you were sleeping so peacefully, I know you have to open up tomorrow morning.”

She nodded her head and turned back around before stopping in her tracks.

“When you’re done with Carson are you coming to bed, or do you have to head back out?”

“No I’m coming to bed when I’m done here.”

She nodded her head and sure enough five minutes later Colin was wrapping his arms around her waist and just like the Colin and Ava were asleep.
