“So what would you like accomplish from this meeting today Mr. Kaepernick?”
Colin and Ava had finally been able to be in the same room long enough for them agree on a therapist and what day to go to this sitting. Once they’d arrived, Dr. Winfield had asked to speak to Colin and then Ava, before having them together.
“I just want my wife back and figure out where I went work.”
“If Ava were sitting beside of you, what would you tell her?”
“That I love her and I’m willing to make us work, and if I ever made her feel like she wasn’t worthy of my love I’m so sorry.”
Dr. Winfield wrote notes on her notepad before looking up at Colin.
“What was the first thing that you noticed about Ava?”
He laughed before his first memory of her popped into his head.
“I was four years old and I threw my ball to far and it landed by her feet in her yard.”
“When did you know that you’d fallen in love with Ava?”
“At my first game as me being a starter in college, she had to beg her mom to come with my family to the game and when I saw her in the stands wearing my jersey I knew then that she was the one for me.”
“How do you think she feels about you?”
“Well right now I know she thinks I’m an asshole.”
“How do you think she feels about you overall?”
“I think she loves me, but is afraid of showing it and instead accuses me of cheating on her, which I did, but only after she had she wanted a divorce.”
Dr. Winfield looked up from her notes and pointed to the door.
“I want to stop right there and save this for when I have both of you in the same room.”
Colin stood up and walked out of the room and took a deep breath and told Ava that she was up.

“Gamma can you pick me up please?”
“I don’t know Carson , you’re kind of heavy.”
“No I’m not gamma, you’re big and strong, just like daddy is.”
Teresa laughed at her grandson and started tickling him. She knew that Carson was having a hard time of understanding what was going on with his parents and when she had heard about him running away she had went to pick up Carson and told his parents to get it together and stop acting like they were little kids. He’d been with her and Rick since then and was the happy little kid that she had remembered him as.
