Ava and Spencer had been home for a week now and the family had finally adjusted to having a new member in the household. Ava walked down the stairs with Carson on her heels and Spencer in her arm.

“Where are you going?”

“To the grocery store.”

Colin jumped up.

“I’m going with you.”

She eyed her husband as he took Spencer from her.

“We also have to plan for Carson’s birthday.”

“Yeah daddy I’m going to be two,” he said holding up two of his tiny fingers.

Ava laughed and rubbed his head.

“So what do you want to do?”

“I want to go swimming and have burgers, fries, o yea and clowns!”

“CLOWNS,” Ava yelled.

Colin chuckled.

“Your mom hates clowns.”

“Not really because I married you didn’t I?”

Colin shot Ava a look and she raised her eyebrow, amused.

“Get your tale in the car.”

Ava giggled.

“I love you.”

As soon as the family stepped into Safeway, all eyes had been on them. Ava rolled her eyes as she grabbed a basket and Colin sat Spencer’s seat in the top half. Ava started over to the fruit section and picked up grapes, apples, and bananas. Carson had jumped up on his father’s back as they went down the cereal aisle. Two females looked at them and tried to take nonchalant pictures of the father and son duo.

“Dad, those people are looking at us,” Carson whispered.

Carson was used to people trying to snap pictures of him, but they were never this close to him, and that’s what scared him the most.

“Excuse me, can I help you young ladies with anything?”

The redhead looked shocked, while the blonde headed girl answered Colin’s question.

“We were looking for the oatmeal.”

Colin pointed to it and the girls picked it up before thanking him and leaving the aisle.
