Chapter Two
I walked over to the nearest tree, throwing the bag against the ground as I took a seat under the protective shade of the tree. I crossed my legs beneath me, making sure that the cloak was still covering my entire body as I reached deep inside my bag, grasping my headband. I heard Kakashi telling Naruto, Sasuke, and the girl named Sakura to have a spar involving the three of them while he kept me company. I didn’t mind Kakashi’s company at all, but I knew that he was just going to drill me with questions. Like usual. From under my hood, I noticed that the Uchiha was pretty good at combat, but that Naruto was catching up to his level. Kakashi trotted over to where I was sitting, settling down beside me as he began reading that perverted book of his. "Can you tell me the real reason why you left your home? I understand that things were rough, but I know you better than that. You’re not the type of person to get up and leave." Kakashi asked, his gaze scanning and refusing to part ways with his novel.
"What? Am I not allowed to visit my favorite bodyguard? It’s been years, Kakashi. I thought you would have been thrilled to see me. And I didn’t leave permanently if that’s what you’re wondering. I know my place." I replied with a wicked grin spreading across my lips, "You should be jumping with joy, Kakashi, not bombarding me with all these questions."
"I’m sure that’s the reason why you’re here. It’s not like I know how your father can be when it comes to your well-being. So if I contact your father, he’ll know that you’re here in Konoha?” Kakashi sarcastically asked, "why don’t you try telling me the real reason why you came here?”
"I didn't feel like staying there any longer," I simply stated. "I felt like traveling and seeing the world. You already know that I was never allowed to go anywhere unless I had an escort, so I decided to see the world beyond the palace on my own."
By the time I finished speaking with Kakashi, Sasuke had defeated Naruto and Sakura in the battle. Naruto and Sakura were sitting down by another tree, breathing heavily, their narrowed gazes unnerved as they stared at the Uchiha. "That was too easy," Sasuke stated, receiving a justified glare from Naruto and a scoff from the pink-haired girl.
"I have a challenge that won't be so easy for you, Sasuke," Kakashi said from behind his book, not even looking up to see the look on his pupil's face. I watched as excitement entered Sasuke’s onyx gaze, a look of pure eagerness appearing over his features.
"Yeah, what is it?" Sasuke asked, a look of curiosity on his face.
"You could spar with Serenity," Kakashi said, more interested in what was happening in his book over what was going to unfold in front of him.
"How would that be a challenge?" Sasuke asked with a smirk on his face. I felt completely insulted as I shot him a dirty look from under my hood for underestimating me.
"You shouldn't underestimate her," Kakashi said, a smirk appearing underneath his mask, "she is a prodigy among her people and much stronger than I." The three teammates were staring at me in awe now. I sighed in frustration, knowing that Kakashi would pull something like this the moment I arrived in the Hidden Leaf. I stood up, avoiding eye contact with Team Seven as I tied my headband around my visible neck.
"Do I have to do this, Kakashi," I asked in a frustrated voice, "I don't feel like sparring with anyone and I haven't trained in weeks. I’m completely at a disadvantage."
"Yes, you have to do this or you can forget about the promise I made," Kakashi said, "now take off your cloak and spar with Sasuke." I didn't argue with Kakashi because he had a point, but I did sigh loudly, exaggerating how much I wasn’t going to enjoy this experience. Quickly, I undid the knot by my neck and took off the cloak. I noticed the blush that began crawling up Naruto's and Sasuke's faces, and the envy in Sakura's eyes. It was only then that Kakashi decided to look up from his book. "You've changed a lot since the last time I've seen you," Kakashi retorted, looking back down to his book.
"And you're still the same perverted Sensei that I've grown to love," I joked as I threw my cloak over him.
I heard a chuckle come from Kakashi as I began walking to the middle of the training grounds. Turning on my heel to look at everyone, I realized that Sasuke was still standing there, staring at me. I honestly just wanted to get this over with now. "You know, I don't have all day to do this," I shouted at Sasuke, breaking him out of his trance. Sasuke walked out to the middle of the training grounds, just a couple of feet away from me. Watching him closely, I sensed that he had strong chakra, so I knew that I had to take him seriously in this match. I couldn’t fool around and expect to walk away victorious.
"You can begin whenever you want to," Kakashi called out to the two of us. With that, Sasuke disappeared from my sight. I didn't let my guard down and stood there, trying to sense his chakra flow. Turning around at the last second, I caught the kick that Sasuke was aiming for my head. I looked into his eyes and saw that he had activated his Sharingan. Tightening the grip that I had on his leg, I propelled Sasuke, throwing him towards the trees. He went crashing through the forest, stopping after his speed slowed down. I watched as Sasuke slowly stood up from his spot, a bit of blood dripping from his mouth. His chest rose and fell with every breath that he took; his eyes were narrowed at me as he slowly spit out the blood that began filling his mouth.
Growing impatient from waiting, I disappeared from sight and reappeared next to Sasuke. We both began to fight hand to hand combat. I was able to hit Sasuke a few times, but he wasn't able to touch me, and I could see that he was getting angry at that fact. He aimed a punch to my stomach and I wasn’t able to stop it in time as the wind was knocked out of me. I hunched over in pain, realizing that Sasuke was aiming a kick to my face. I caught his ankle mere inches away from my face and I tightened my grip gradually. I watched as pain flashed across his face before twisting his ankle. Sasuke fell to the ground, pain rushing through his leg.
I quickly regained my posture, trying to regulate my breathing back to normal. Sasuke also stood up, limping because of his sprained ankle. Walking over to where Sasuke was standing, I tightened my fist, chakra surrounding it as I concentrated a fair amount into the base of my hand. I punched the boy in the face, sending him right into a tree. Surprisingly, Sasuke stood up again. He began throwing kunais and shurikens at me, trying to regain some energy and catch me off guard. I caught every single kunai and shuriken that he threw at me, and merely tossed them to the side as if they meant nothing. I quickly did some hand signs at incredible speed and did Fire Style: Blazing Jutsu. A ring of fire appeared around Sasuke and I. With fear in his eyes, Sasuke took a step back and walked back into one of my clones. My clone held a sharp kunai to his neck and his body immediately stiffened. "Do you give up?" I asked, trotting over to stand in front of the boy.
Sasuke didn't answer, slightly embarrassed that I was able to defeat him, but he nodded his head in agreement. My clone removed the kunai from his throat, dropping it the ground before she disappeared into a cloud of smoke. With a wave of my hand, the ring of fire was extinguished. I walked back to the others, who were just staring at me as if they’ve never seen a spar before. I took my cloak from Kakashi and placed it inside my bag. I gazed over Kakashi, a wicked grin spreading across my lips once again as a glint sparkled in my red hues. "Kakashi, where can I stay for a while?"
