Chapter Eight
I woke up the following morning a bit tired from the ANBU mission from the previous night, but thankfully, all my chakra had returned. It was around nine o'clock in the morning and I laid in bed, staring out of the window at the birds perched on the tree branches. I suddenly remembered that I had to go on a mission with Team 7 today. I groaned a bit because I didn't feel like doing anything today, but I slowly began to inch out from under my covers with a small smile spreading across my lips. I couldn’t help the overwhelming feeling of happiness that filled me for last night, I had accomplished a dream of mine.
After a few minutes of moving my sore body out from the covers, I finally was able to get up. I stood next to the bed, stretching a bit to fully wake myself. I slowly made my way to the bathroom to take a quick shower. I turned on the water and while it warmed up a bit, I got undressed. I walked into the shower and the warm water touched my skin, making me take in a quick breath. The water woke me up completely and within a few minutes, I had finished my shower.
I got out of the shower and dried my hair with a towel. I wrapped a second towel around my body and I left the bathroom, making my way back to my room. There, I grabbed some clothes out of my closet and quickly got dressed. Now I was wearing baggy, black pants and a red spaghetti-strap top. I placed my hair up in a messy bun, too lazy to actually do anything with my hair. Walking over to my night-stand, I grabbed my weapons pouch and tied in around my right thigh.
Not having to do anything else, I left my apartment and locked the door behind me. I started to walk towards the training grounds, taking my time. The streets of Konoha were already filled with people doing whatever they did in the morning. I passed a group of children fighting over candy and I just smiled at them. The children immediately stopped fighting and they just stared after me. I jumped over the village gates once I reached them, and when I was out of the village, I began to jump through the maze of branches.
Within a few minutes, I had reached the training grounds, and I was a bit shocked to see that Kakashi was already there. He was sitting against a tree, reading his perverted book. Sasuke, Sakura, and Naruto were just standing around, doing nothing special. Kakashi looked up from his book once he sensed that I was there. "Serenity, you're late," Kakashi said, standing up from his sitting position as the three genin came to stand next to me.
"Sorry about that, Kakashi," I said with a grin, "I overslept because I had an eventful night. And don't act like you're never late." Kakashi didn't answer and I smirked because he knew that he couldn't say anything against that. Kakashi decided to pretend to have ignored my statement as he took something out of his pocket, probably trying to get off of that subject.
"Here," Kakashi said while handing me a Konoha headband, "Lady Tsunade wanted me to give you this since you left too quickly last night after the mission for her to give it to you personally. You’re officially a kunoichi of the Leaf, and you’ll always have ties with us no matter where you go. You can think of this as an extension of good faith to your homeland from the Leaf. I believe your father won’t be too happy about this, but the old man has to let you grow up sooner or later."
"Oh, thank you," I said happily as I tied the headband around my head in the same fashion as Sakura wore hers. “You don’t have to worry about my father, Kakashi. He already knows of my abilities and he should have known that this would happen sooner than later.” I couldn’t help but chuckle at the fact that the silver-haired Jounin had called my father an old man, but then I saw that there was confusion on Naruto's and Sakura's faces.
"What mission?" Naruto and Sakura asked at the same time, their voices clearly holding curiosity. I arched an eyebrow, remembering that only Sasuke knew about my inauguration in the ANBU Black Ops. A sly smirk spread across my lips as I opened my mouth to explain, but the Uchiha beat me to it.
